It's tough to carefully paint something meant to look haphazard!

Yep, but you've done an excellent job, makes me want to start in on my DA collection again too  :-*
Well I've lead an evil life, so they say, but I'll outrun the Devil on judgement day.

Beautiful work.
How about some group shots of each force? :D
Inspirational work!
Yearly painting challenges only show me how useless I am at painting...

Excellent as always  :-* :-*

I think a group shot might be in order soon  :D

Many thanks to all of you!

I will see what I can do regarding the group shot of the different factions. Though all pictures here were made with my mobile phone. Hope that I can manage a group shot with the equipment I have.

Really nice!

Maybe we should also organise an 'african partisan-con' in the future...

Great idea Turbo-Ben!

On the workbench right now are some more skirmishing Tetela with fancy hair cuts armed with muskets.

Stay tuned  :)

Amazing...it is hard to look through this thread and not feel inspired to have a go at Darkest Africa. Great, atmospheric work...!

Hello Gentleman,

with this post I just want to make a historical correction and give a little information about a purchase I made.

I´ve re read the book "The African Wars" by Chris Peers (published by Pen & Sword) a few days ago.
A few month ago I made a mistake by saying that Sefu is the nephew of Tippu Tip.

That´s not correct.
Sefu was the son of Tippu Tip and Rashid was the nephew of Tippu Tip. Just for the papers :-)

On page 147 in the book it says that Dhanis force had a single 75mm Krupp field gun.
Knowing that I like to replace the little gun in my collection with an appropriate model for my Force Publique collection.

I´ve ordered this beauty from Askari Miniatures a few days ago (along with some pack mules to carry it through the jungle)

http://www.askari-minis.com/webstore/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=23_45&products_id=90&zenid=1je339vc1ut06ivi4id5gq0b27

I´m really looking forward to paint more stuff for the Force Publique as well in the next coming months.

Cheers

Hello,

as requested here some group shots. I tried my best  :?

Force Publique so far

Still to do:
wound markers, some more baggage (mules), 75mm Krupp mountain gun, maybe a third Askari company, and of course more Tetela.

And the the Arabs so far:

Still to do:
lots, lots, lots...
I think I have to do 4 times more bases than for the Force Publique o_o

Excellent  :-* :-*

Thank you kindly. Even though the pictures aren't the best the close ups more than compensate and it's great to get an overall idea  :)

Stunning stuff- not only the painting but the thought that has gone into designing the bases and how they interact.
