Quar Batrep (SOA) and Crusader Company
« on: July 15, 2013, 12:20:58 AM »
I played two games of SOA this weekend - short battle report is up on my blog at http://jayswargamingmadness.blogspot.com/2013/07/quar-action-soa-71313.html.

Also, I've finished up my Crusader infantry company with cavalry support - pictures can be seen on my blog in this post: http://jayswargamingmadness.blogspot.com/2013/07/quar-crusaders.html.

Some preview pics:

Enjoy!

I've looked at Quar a few time, interesting stuff. They're the kinds of figures that aren't my personal cup of tea, but I really want to fight against and armies like this make me wish I had some friends who were into strange miniature settings*, these rock! Excellent paint jobs, I LOVE well executed table-top standard armies (which unfortunately are so far from being standard :/ ). Simple but really effective highlights and lining, they REALLY pop when out on the table. Basing is excellent as well, nothing ties an army together and really makes is look like a finished, cohesive force quite like good basing.  It's one of those things that can really accentuate or detract from an army depending on if it's done well or not and in this case it's done very well.

*By strange, I mean ANYTHING more obscure than Warmachine.

Thanks guys.

I agree wholeheartedly - I've seen beautifully painted miniatures based like CrAp - and the net effect is crap.  Likewise I've seen mediocre painted miniatures with very nice basing that up levels the overall look of the figures.  I think it is so critical to have both a nice painted miniature and very nice basing.  Or hey, if you can only paint mediocre, basing is easy if you put a little effort into it :-)

VERY COOL! Beautiful.....well everything. lol

The green tank(I forget the name) works perfect for VSF stuff. I ended up picking up two along with a TON of both the 15mm and 28mm stuff from Kublecon. Even got to meet Josh who's a really fun guy to talk to.

Awesome!  That is how I started out ... bought a bunch of stuff at KublaCon one year and have been buying more ever since.  Both Josh and Anthony are both great guys.
