Vikinga Här
« on: July 15, 2013, 09:56:49 AM »
As you may or may not know I have a sort of Norse fantasy thread over at the fantasy section here but as this is without the fantasy stuff I thought it would be only fitting to post it where this post really belong.
Sorry for the dubbel post.

With the girlfriend away, or maybe more important the 15 month old daughter… I could make a sort of inventory for myself of my Norsemen collection spread out on the floor.

Many more pictures at: http://kampgruppe-engel.blogspot.se/2013/07/vikinga-har.html

In Hail Caesar terms this will be the following.

1 small size unit of Thralls with javelins
1 standard size unit of Gestir
1 small size unit of villagers with dogs
3 standard size units of Hirdmen
1 small size unit of Hirdmen
1 small size of Varangian Guards
1 small size of Ulfhednar
1 small size of mounted Hirmen
1 standard size of Bondi with bows
2 standard size units of Bondi
1 small size unit of Christian monks trying to spread the word
4 Viking Chieftains or heroes
1 Skald to tell the tales of my heroes.

That is a decently sized raiding party - ready to plunder and steal from those milk-sop English across the Whale Road. :)

This evening we had a clash with my Norsemen. I divided the här into four more or less equal parts and we had a two vs two player game of Hail Caesar.

Great stuff. :) They do look impressive.

My club likes dark age gaming (among other periods) and Warlord Games rules. However, they're a little put off by the sheer size and number of units needed for a 'standard' game of Hail Caesar. Especially with all those 4-deep warbands. Good to see you still had a good game, using 2-deep units, a lot of small units, and about 7 units a side. :) I'll be interested to see how you get on with future games.

Bump... :D

I suddenly felt the urge to paint me some Vikings...

And perfectly enough I found this halfpainted unit of Bondi troops in a box. I have now finished the paintjob and added bases to them.:D

Thanks guys.  :)

I just based these Norse stone slings.

Nothing fancy, but they will do the job.
