Cobblestone or flagstone mats, sheets etc?
« on: 20 July 2013, 09:18:36 AM »
Hi all, I'm planning on making a gaming board with a paved or cobbled surface. I was initially thinking of using some kind of dense urathane foam and scoring the surface or similar but was wondering if there were any sheet solutions that the good folks of LAF would know of?
I've not seen any textured wallpaper that looked convincing or robust, I might pop to 4D models to look at styrene sheets but I'm sure that you folk will know of something obvious that I've over looked!

GW has some basing kits with a sheet of squared plastic squares.

I would go for the basketball material option, mate.

Give me a couple of minutes to find the links.
 :D

Dewbakuk tried some out here:

Works well, I reckon.

Costs about £30 on ebay to cover a 4x4 area.

I have a link on my ebay if you want me to PM it to you...?

If the basketball doesn't appeal then there's always Wills plastic sheeting although they are rather small and so depending on what you're going to be doing you might end up using a lot.

Just bought a couple of sheets from Antenicitis. When they arrive will post pics.

I usually get mine from Modelzone but they've sold out of pretty much everything before shutting down.

Online I get it from here...

http://www.anticsonline.co.uk/2140_1.html

They do other sorts of sheeting as well so have a browse.

Other places might do it cheaper but it's not worth the hassle of a few pence to spend ages looking.

cheers

How about Lemax christmas mats?  I've not used one but have thought about it in the past.  They also make a brick mat, along with a few others.  Not sure about scale though, might be too big.

More flagstone than cobble. They are designed for larger size figures. Our local Christmas Presence has them, I bought one and cut it up for roads but it is large.
