Looking for alternative Wood Elves
« on: July 29, 2013, 01:37:20 AM »
Hello,
Having recently been bitten by the "Oldhammer" bug,  I am trying to fill out a wood elf army for WFB 3rd edition.  I am having difficulties finding some if the older Citadel figures, particularly cavalry.  I could go with later Warhammer sculpts, but not sure how well they would fit.  Does anyone have any suggestions?  I like the look of the Grenadier Wood Elves; does anyone have any experience with those figures?

Thanks very much,
Chris

Hey Rhodes, I have some of the Elf cavalry -- part of project that I'll never get around to. Four Grenadier mounted Elves and 1 RAFM mounted Elf.  PM me if you're interested... I can send pics.

The grenadier wood elves are great, but be prepared to throw out the horses as they are tiny.

Black Tree Design used to sell some good elves but I think they sold off the moulds to another company and for the life of me I can't remember which one!

The new GW wood elves are actually quite good too and the Grenaidier range is lovely but the horses are indeed slightly pony sized but have the required retro vibe.

All the best!

Second City Games stock some nice Elf's (http://www.secondcitygames.co.uk/userimages/procart10.htm) Their Ral Partha & Dark Eye owned moulds.

They also have some of the old Blacktree LotR range.

Some nice ones from em4 miniatures that match up well with 3 ed Citadel:

Mostly infantry, but a couple of cavalry too.

The Grenadier ones are great.
Nt specifically wood Elves, but a good second choice would be Ral Partha elves by Chris Fitzpatrick
