Refurbished Dinky RAF
« on: 04 August 2013, 03:08:31 AM »
Seems a bit of interest in aircraft in 28mm starting of late. I did a number of refurbs of Dinky models last year for an American client. LAFers of a certian age will go dewy eyed at the mention of Dinky!

Anyway here they are:

Dinky Hurricane

Before and after

Dinky Spit WIP

Dinky Spit and jeep

Aussie Staff car

Pressure Refueller

hope you enjoy, got me in the mood to do some more!

What do poeple think something like my finished Spit or Hurricane would sell for on Ebay?

Really nice stuff! The Hurricane is my favourite. I did have Dinky when I was a kid.  :)

That is all frecking great! Amazing work bud! :-* :-* my only slight quibble is the square base on the RAF dude, but that's a very minor personal quibble!

Excellent work. I had the Dinky Spit Mk1 and Hurricane IIC if think it was. Had 20mm cannon mounted on the wings, in place of the MG's. Is that what the Hurricane was you re-painted?

Excellent! I had the Spit and my brother had the Stuka with the cap bomb slung underneath, oooh! the nostalgia  :)

You might be lucky but I've got it all!

Thanks for the comments

A real trip down memory lane.

Yes it was the Dinky Hurricane which had the finger wheel to make a mg noise!

I got rid of that.

thanks

Fat nun that is great!!

I remember having two of these planes when I was a kid. I'm afraid both of them died as I enjoying playing them in puddles of mud...  lol

Lovely work indeed! 8)

I've got all the cheap airplanes I need for now ;) , but I am very interested in the origin of those service vehicles. Are those Dinkies as well? Especially the fuel truck is nice and could be useful.

Any idea on its scale? I've already heavily invested in 1/43 scale period cars, so idealy, it should not look out of place amongst those...
Miniatures you say? Well I too, like to live dangerously...

The Morris cab and Queen Mary trailer is a company called Sunstar from the far east, which I dont think is going anymore. It was 1/50 scale.

The Pressure Refueller is a stalwart of the Dinky military range. I did find out what real vehicle it is, but cant remember! I do know it is post war. You can find it swapmeets or Ebay, but it is a more desirable one for the Dinky nuts. Mine was substantially trashed and I still paid £15 for it I think. It is a nice vehicle.

They do a nice Scammell crane which is a Pioneer I think. I am going to do a UK recover one in Mickey Mouse when I get round to it.

Dinky was 1/60 scale for their military but some, like the old jeep is 1/48. The trucks are just about 1/56.

Here is some of my collection of diecast for doing up ;D

Oh boy... lol

Thanks for the explanation. I searched for the fueltruck on ebay and saw them go fo GBP 150,-.  :o Mint in packaging, sure, but that's just a little misguided.  ::)  If I can't find one in a deplorable enough state, I'll find a different solution. It is a nice looking truck though...
