More Third Afghan War
« on: 04 August 2013, 12:39:37 PM »
Hello!
In spite of this terrible, terrible hot, I have been able to paint some more figures for my Third Afghan War project:

These are Indian Army troops from 20th Regiment. The figures are 28mm Woodbine Design models.

And Afghan tribesmen to fight them. These models are from Empress Miniatures, also in 28mm.

They are part of the last entry in my blog: http://waziristanonafancy.blogspot.com.es/

Cheers!

Beautiful shades on the Afghans. Any officers for the Indians?

Very nice. Third Afghan is one of those projects I can feel I'm going to slip into eventually, as I'm already into RCW/BoB and other Interwar theatres... it'll give my Brits in tropical kit another excuse to take the table, and give me more variety for the pulp lunacy we also indulge in.

Those Empress Afghans are lovely figures, lots of character, and I really like the way you've painted them up. The Indians are very business-like; Woodbine isn't a company I've seen a lot of figures from so it's good to see good photos of well-painted Woodbine figures!

Well done. Do you work in the underground? Even here in Northgermany it is only hot and they steal our fresh wind.

I have a blister of officers from Woodbine and I´m thinking about to use also an Indian officer from Foundry.
I am painting very slowly these days, only a pair of hours in the morning...

Thanks Juan. And some painting is better than no painting. I'm lucky to get a few hours a fortnight.

Atheling - they're from Woodbine Design.

Lovely figures - really like the Afghans.

Anyone see the Russian movie "9th Company"? The Afghans remind me of that lot.
Terrible movie by the way.

Thanks, that's what I suspected but was not sure. You'd think I'd recognize Soapy's sculpting... i own so many of them!  o_o

Are they a direct match for the indian troops in the Third Afghan War? I ask out of ignorance as it's a period I'm very into doing.

Yes.

Edit: Edwin Herbert says the Indian Army uniforms in the war were very much at the dusty, pale sandy end of the Khaki scale, incidentally.
