Sol'una Tactical Roleplay Game
« on: 07 August 2013, 07:12:09 AM »
Another new 28mm (well they explicitly say so anyway) sciffy-ish miniature game (from a company which looks to go by the rather complex name of Aksakal Australia Pty Ltd.) seems to be getting ready to enter the fray. As the name implies, it features both miniature gaming and RPG bits. The setting's apparently something like a very posthuman space opera fantasy kind of thingy. Or something. Anyhow, the first miniature renders are reportedly done (but not on the show yet) and you can download the beta rules from the official site.

Not that I need yet another miniature game, but some of the designs look a bit fresh so maybe there'll be a couple of minis in it for me -- if the aesthetic doesn't turn out to be too outre and or space fantastic and they do stick to ca. 28mm scale.

Had a bit of time on my hands (read: was bored at work) and went to check if there's any news on this. Not as such, but I happened to notice a link I hadn't clicked before:
http://aryiki.com/soluna/GameBasics.aspx

I would think the miniature on the far left (the Phoenix) is one of the actual (preproduction casting?) figures for the game and the painted guy on the far right may be as well, while the female victim role is played by a Samaritan from Sedition Wars. Judged by those pix, the size of the Sol'una minis would seem to be fairly close to 28-30mm (instead of 32-35mm as I suspected), which is a good thing in my book.

Having added "Space Opera" to its already long name, Sol'una is heading for an Australian KickStarter (still a bit of a rarity as I understand). Aksakal have put up an beta page for the project here where you can see some minis (small photos tho) and express your support, among other things:

P&p fees will likely kill my interest in getting anything physical across but I might be tempted to support them with a PDF ruleset pledge.

From what I can see and for soem reason, the style of the minis makes me think about some first half 20 th century supers. Which isn't a bad thing for me.
I'm pretty sure I had seen bigger picture sof a couple of the sculpts but after a quick search, I haven't found them.
