There are a couple of Osprey books for this period. The Boxer Rebellion & The Taipai Rebellion. Both books cover a little bit of Imperial Chinese uniforms. Often the only thing that was uniform in many units was the jacket. Every day civillian cloths were worn undernieth. The jacket would have been the same color in each unit, each unit would have their own jacket color & trim. Individual identification would be on a round white patch in the center of the front & back of their jacket.

point taken
I guess old photographs are a bit different, as well as old drawings, especially in terms of "fair use"

I personally try not to post recent genuine artwork made for recent publications (like Osprey e.g.) unless they published it for advertising themselves.
And I only link to such pictures.
I probably cannot claim to be rigorous enough on that matter, as others here probably neither, however asking for artwork from a copyrighted recent publication might be a bit over the top and can hardly expect a response - which is actually what I wanted to hint at when quoting the forum rules, and not to criticize...

the path between copyright and fair use is narrow and thorny, I am aware of that   ;)

I think that there are old pictures with the Chinese soldiers of the 19th century. to which copyright does not apply. I want them to see.
And illustrations of Osprey available in preview Google and Amazon.
