USA: Ohio - Advance the Colors (Sept. 20-22, 2013)
« on: August 20, 2013, 03:40:00 AM »
Hi everyone,

I wanted to encourage everyone to come out to the flagship convention of the Great Lakes chapter of the Historical Miniatures Gaming Society (HMGS), Advance the Colors 2013. We have been running this show since 1995 and it always features fun, nice-looking games. More importantly, the people who attend ATC are a neighborly, inviting group of gamers who will make sure you have a good time.

I will be running a massive French & Indian War skirmish on a 12' long table. It will feature an Indian village, European fort, running clifftop battles and forest ambuscades. I've structured it to flow quickly, so it won't be one of those games where you take your turn and then wait around for an hour before doing anything else. It will be fast, furious and bloody! I'm running it as our "showcase game" in the lobby of the Heritage Center of Clark County, Springfield, OH. The Heritage Center is a museum dedicated to preserving the past of our region -- just like HMGS is pledged to promote historical miniatures and learning about history in general. There is an onsite museum at the center with a nice Militaria wing. Of course, we will also have fantasy and Sci-Fi games, too. Special mention should be made of my friend Zeke's "flying battleships" game, using a system he designed himself which is superior (if I must say) than all of those out of the market. Oh, and the con will also feature one of the national sponsored Flames of War tournaments.

Anyway, here's a preliminary list of events. There are more on the way. And if you'd like to run a game, send me a PM and I'll send you the Event Coordinator's email address. The website for the convention, by the way, is: http://www.hmgsgl.org/conventions/advance-the-colors/

Here’s the list of dealers, so far, who are attending Advance the Colors in Springfield, OH (Sept. 20-22). I’ve got a few who are still contemplating, so this may grow. For your planning of purchases, along with the idea of helping the dealers generate sales, I decided to publish a list of what they’re planning on bringing. I also asked them to mention things they weren’t planning on lugging along, but would be willing to bring as part of a special order by you, the attendees.

Contact information is listed for each vendor. So, I encourage you to contact them ahead of time and let them know what you’ll be wanting. That way, they’re not sold out when you swing by the booth to shop! I will republish this list if I receive more details…
