Allright Campers,you asked and you shall receive.Book#1by Schiffer books aprox$70.oo ,"uniforms of the German Colonial Troops1884-1918"by Charles Woolley.3 stars*,covers Africa and Asia(not South pacific),and  navy,with a private collection of photos of Tsingtao, and 3rd Seebattalion.Book #2 by Schiffer books approx$ 80.00,"Imperial German Field uniforms and Equipment-1907-1918', Volume 3 by Johan Somers.IT COVERS ALL colonies little on native police in south pacific,lots of color photos of uniforms especially heavy on German Southwest Africa.These cover half the 1288pg book,other half landsturm and ersatz troops,5" stars* "Book # 3,thru Verlag Militaria,by way of the store" Berliner Zinnfiguren"(Great Store),by Jurgen Kraus and Thomas Muller,"Die Deutschen Kolonial-und Schutzruppen von 1889 bis 1918,I think 120.oo euros ? 564 pgs,in german,boat loads of color and black and white photos w/colonial history all be it in German,w/the added section of the German East Asia Brigade."5stars",but.. it does not cover that much more than book 2.Also Chris Dales wonderful site "German Colonial Uniforms" the Osprey book is good as a start as the author suggests,and the "German Colonial  uniforms "site also gives you links to many sites including the Ostafrika-Yahoo group,that chris Dale runs.     the Cigarette albums are the Waldorf Astoria albums. any more questions i would be glad help.sincerely juergen c. olk

That is a very good book. It is also available in English (as are most of the books from Militaria Verlag) and it is 'only' 100.-€.

Have to admit that i bought the WW1 East Africa Osprey on the back of this thread, rather than the new German book as that was a little too niche for me ...
