15mm WWII Russians
« on: April 25, 2015, 03:20:43 AM »
Hi guys

Some Warlord Games SS I have finished on commission, I have mixed feelings towards these figures, most of them are nice, proportions are good, but a couple of the poses are a bit funny, some have cartoonish faces, others are quite nice, and the one running with his rifle across his chest has the most absurd head I have seen on a 28mm figure, his helmet goes below his nose, there's no way he could see, but overall I think they are OK.

Beautiful paintjob on mediocre (at best) figures. The shading is superb.

I agree about the infamous helmet, it looks straight from a 70s B movie... or when I was a kid and tried an Italian Army helmet... lol or when I was trying the different size of K-pots to get my size when I entered the Army Academy... (I was a tad on the small size at the time... let's say I was the first cadet when we lined up in height order...  o_o

for the rest of the miniatures, some looks awesome, some less so, but I will not say they are mediocre at best... I agree that sometime Warlord has some top notch dud... but I would say the best of the line are really nice, plus the painting is awesome. Great work!

Thanks guys

Hi Gamer Mac - the crawler is a converted Matchbox snowplough, I removed the blade, changed the tracks with model tank tracks, added the screen guards, I made it and the crew as part of a swap on another forum, I have another snowplough to make myself one, one day.

I agree about the figures, very Battle Comics stylistically.  That said they do have a certain something painted nicely.  As these are!

Hi guys

The second half of a Bolt action SS force completed, not sure why, but my camera had trouble focusing, so some of the pics are a bit blurry, this batch was a mix of Warlord games and another manufacturer, not sure who, the other guys are a bit bigger and have no base (which is a pain for painting) but look a bit more natural.

Hi guys

Have just finished making/paint 64 plastic Warlord German Grenadiers on commission, a big job, around 65hrs work.

As far as the kit goes, I like them better then the metal Bolt action figs, they are better proportioned and the faces are less cartoony, due to them being plastic the detail isn't as crisp as the metals, but they are still pretty good, my only issues with them is they really could do with more arm options, they need a straight left and right carrying arm so you can pose them carrying weapons at the trail, and they need a pointing arm, it's pretty cliché but good for command poses, also they don't have any shoulder boards/straps, it would be interesting to see how the parts interchange with the other Warlord German plastic infantry kits, I have a project forming in the back of my mind, but that's for the distant future.

Hi guys, just finished a batch of WWII US GIs on commission, I believe these are bolt action figures, not bad apart from a couple of cartoony faces, all comments welcome.

Very nice painting 8)

I'm pretty sure the US figures are from Black Tree ;)

Agreed!!  Fine painting!

I looked but didn't see any more crawler pics.
Any other views available?

Being Matchbox is it 28mm, or closer to 15?

Thanks for sharing!!
