IHMN - Slow figures
« on: 27 August 2013, 02:16:03 PM »
Any ideas for making figures very slow? Would a negative speed modifier do it? ie. Speed -2 meaning a figure can move 4". At -2 points? Seems okay to me but just wondering what others think.

How about a coin toss for every move? -1/-2?

***comments about dicing to run deleted; obviously thinking of another rule set***

How about a coin toss for every move? -1/-2? You have to do a die roll for every run.

And, in our games, we do a heck of a lot of running.  ;)

Doug

That might work. Think Slow figures shouldn't be allowed to run either. Be quite funny if slow models could still move 7" a turn on a 3'x3' board.  lol

Adding a negative modifier to Speed has the additional result of weakening the character in combat by making him easier to hit (e.g. anyone striking a character with -1 Speed would get a +1 to hit). Not the worst option for a character, but a factor worth bearing in mind.

Alternatively, limit the speed mods in combat to positive mods only - i.e. no penalty in combat for slow figures. I would welcome some input from Craig on this one, as I'm looking to have a slow character in one of my companies.

KISS principle always applies, so... just make their base speed less and don't allow them to run.

You may now throw bouquets and applaud  lol

Works for me. Looks like Captain Ironside (mentor of the Porterhouse School Adventuring Company) will have a definate limp. But I do have ways to compensate for this ...
