Italians
« on: August 28, 2013, 09:16:28 PM »
Just wanted to post some pictures of my Italians. I have been looking for historical scenarios for Mud and Blood games on the Italian front but not found much. Any one have any they would be willing to share?

Very nice. Good to see some non-western front WWI.

What scale scenario are you looking for?

Red how many italians do you have done up? As I said before they look great. I can't help you with skirmish scenarios (don't play that level myself), but I have to say I would love to see someone put on a game of Great War Spearhead using 28mm (my own collection is all 15mm and 6mm).

Great looking set up you have though!

Off hand I dont know how many exactly with out going into the loft to get them, maybe 30-40. I have used them for WHH but they dont get out much these days. I have been thinking of switching to 20mm latley.

I would recommend mark Thompson The White War. Life and Death on the Italian front, 1915-1919' probably the best recent history of the war in English..

Scenario wise I think Rommel's 'Infantry Attacks' might be good? Although obviously told from the 'other side'!

Both very good recommendations.  Read "The White War" about five months ago and was very impressed, and "Infantry Attacks" is, of course, a classic.

The was a scenario (written by me) in the Miniature Wargames October issue, to coincide with the Piave river offensives of 1918.

This can easily be converted to Mud and Blood and I offered some options in the text as I originally did write the article with that set in mind (along with a couple of others, including our own forthcoming set)

Nice pics!
Kind regards

Not for a while just yet, as the 'one' set may become two rule sets!

I will have more details in around a month, once the Christmas period is cleared and normal service (eg children back to school) is resumed
