If you're in the states (I know Pappa Midnight isn't ... but some lurkers might be), Walgreens also stocks either a very simliiar or the exact same train sets. The cost is $9.99 and from my brief perusing it comes in the brown seen in the photo above, and also in a nice vibrant blue.

FYI, I bought one of these from Walgreens this morning. Comparing to the picture further up this thread, the train seems to be the exact same train (same mix of car types, same signage, etc...)

The little building in the bottom left differs though.

There's a website on the back of the package listing the manufacturer.

Their automatic cart system appears to be broken (I get a ton of sql errors when I go to
their product page), but it looks like you MIGHT be able to order direct from them.

From Toys R Us.

It's the train Grimm mentions at the beginning of this thread.

Repainted of course

Removing the stickers
« Reply #25 on: May 07, 2007, 10:22:27 PM »
This train has been sitting on my "to paint" table for about 6 months. I sat down today and looked at it more closely (for about 10 minutes before heading to work).

It's got stickers all over it. I tried peeling off a few, and ended up with alot of glue (and half ripped off stickers) on the side of my train.

Anybody know of a good way to get these things off?

To be honest solvents are your best bet to remove the glue form adhesive stickers. Soak with a damp cloth or cotton ball then peel the adhesive should come off too though you will still need a little scraping...a  large flat screwdriver works well for this without scratching

Goof off

Try "goof off".  it works well on removing lable glue.  Just be careful it might melt the plastic, try it on a small area first

i have stuph comercially available as Goo Gone.  purchased at the supermarket but i have seen it cheaper in hardware stores and much more expensive in art supply stores.  comes in several sizes and is a nice golden urine colour!

http://www.amazon.com/MAGIC-AMERICAN-CORP-GG12-Gone/dp/B000HJ76X8/ref=pd_lpo_k2_dp_k2a_1_txt/002-7995449-9767229

it comes in quarts!!!!

it works great on some plastic bins my wife bought to hold beads.  some tips:

use spairingly as it is thin and "travels" around quite easily but also absorbs into the offending label well.

let it sit for a few seconds if not a full minute and then the goo can be lifted with - what i used - and old credit card as a scraper.

use gloves if you are a messy worker such as i am or if you ave sensitive skin.  i don't and had no issues with accidental skin contact - but NEVER ASSUME!

maybe have the sink already full of warm soapy water to rinse off the pieces.  the remover is oily and pervasive - it seems to flow everywhere!  so be prepaired to clean it up before you find it lifts the finish off the countertop, or your moms kitschy placemats.  don't ask, the scars are healed but memorable.

it's great stuph as i said, and i have used it safely on many plastics, including the kind from which that train set is constructed.

I think I have a tub of Goof Off in my garage. I'll try that first.

Otherwise, that Magic Goo Gone looks to be ideal (it even says on the label it's good for tape residue).

Thanks!
