Herald

So as I posted earlier I really liked this model.

But I hated the head it came with. I was really disappointed there wasn't a variant or two included with the kit. A friend then forwarded me this conversion and I wanted to do one myself.

Here he is nearly completed.

And here he is finished.

A dash of salt. A pinch of make believe. A dose of wishful thinking. A smidgen of truth. There you now have the recipe for a rumor.

Soul Grinder

Weapon painted and attached

Blood effects added

Base completed.

The Soul Grinder moves forward with a line Nurglings scurrying along in front.

Here is a scribor model that I intended to use as a herald. I love that he's got an arm off.

Unfortunately this seems to be the only model so far where this technique doesn't look right. Too much green perhaps? Looking at these photos I think I went to heavy handed on the Loren Forest wash and I should have used a smaller brush to be a bit more precise.

This was the test model for the initial wash formula. I originally did the figure in a yellow'ish tan thinking it would take the sepia wash well.

It didn't.

It made the yellow more glowy. Glowy? Yes. Yellow glow. I stripped the model and redid him in the formula that I currently use and he still looks wonky. That's right. Wonky. :)

I may strip and restart him again.

Thanks so much! I'm glad you like what I have done! I've wanted to do a Nurgle army for so long but there were never enough figures. Now that the line has expanded and there are other sources out there for Nurgle figures it all came together. The defiler was initially going to be a Construct out of the MONSTROUS ARCANUM but that plan quickly fell through. One of the guys at the game store suggested making him into a defiler (I hate the GW model) so the defiler was born and I found a use for a cool looking model.

Epidemius

A Nurgle army just wouldn't be Nurgle without Epidemius.

Here are WIP shots

Base coated Sand Yellow

Sepia and Loren Forest Washed

Details picked out. Red Baal wash added. Washes added to Nurglings and banners

And finished pictures

Nice!
Some bone white on the foot nails and some chaos marks on the banner perhaps.

Amazing I missed that! Toes painted!

And I wanted the banners to look like tattered fabric that was old and weathered. Personally I like them plain.

Disturbing and very very nice paintjobs!  :-*

I like how good you make the models looks with a few easy techniques. I might steal a few ideas from you if I ever get around to painting my Nurgle collection
Why aim for gold if you can get lead?

This model just screamed for blood effects.

The biggest challenge was his size. He didn't fit on a 25mm square base so I went against my biggest modeling pet peeve and put him on a rock which is made out of cork.

I am a lazy lazy lazy painter. The washes are literally a slice of heaven on earth. They make painting tolerable for me. If you have any questions on formula or what not don't hesitate to ask. And thanks again for the compliments!
