Pulp Freighter

I'm looking for a 28mm freighter/cargo ship in resin/plastic for gaming rather than a scale model at vast cost. Anyone got any suggestions - I'm trying to avoid scratch building.

Have you considered building one in cardboard? I made one once. I used book binders card (roughly 1½mm thick)

Well, i would gladly pay the extra, to get what i want.
No interest in a cargo ship, i want a tramp steamer.
also, 36 inches, vs 34 cm so 2.5 times LARGER
So the price is rather justified.

I am a bit puzzled here
the difference between "tramp steamer" and "freight liner"  does not refer to the size, but to the travelling schedule and to the flexible cargo options of the tramp trade.

what would be the difference?
Because a tramp steamer is a cargo ship after all....

I got mine from Playmobile.  I intend to do one like this guy:

Sadly I think it might be out of print.  I had a hard time finding one then I emailed Playmobil and even though it wasnt on the  site the must have had a few left and I got one for less than $50.

There was a guy in USA who last I heard was with armchair general. His ships were all scratch built went for around 150 dollars. But all looked very good on par with your old glory pictured which I may get. My first game starts in Antwerp ..so need some ships and going to get a 1/444 scale submarine that may be better then a 1/72 as would be to big.

Oooh! I like this. It would be good for mid Victorian onwards too, so very flexible. I 'll be adding this to the list

this is @Michi's Doreen - lok it uo on the forum, he must have quite some pictures posted
as I said, ebay might be Your friend, plus Playmobil usually recycles it's ship moulds many times
