Quite a marked difference between the Prof.s two shots. I am guessing the second lot have been "cut out" in photoshop????

Since that would be a rules violation, I highly doubt that. Instead, I assume he shot the second pic against a blueish paper, well lit, as is the custom for "professional" miniature photography these days.

how Chris said, shot it using a piece of blueish paper, you can also recognize the shadows of the minis in background, that difference you mentioned is due to different background, is a usual effect.

Please do not take my comments the wrong way. I was in no way inferring the Prof. had used underhand tactics to enhance the photo. I was just surprised at the difference in appearance of some areas between the two shots where I presumed the only difference was the presence of scenery or not. The photoshop comment was due mainly to the left hand side of the head of the second figure in which it appeared to be a little softer as though it had been cropped (not doctored) with a wand or similar.

Apologies for any misunderstanding my original post may have caused.
