S.H.I.V.A Board (Finished!!! 28/3)
« on: September 21, 2013, 11:28:16 PM »
Hi all!

I was asked by Crooked Dice to do a second board for them after the London board I completed for them last year...

http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=44122.0

The remit is to build a sub-pen/island/lagoon style board. With that in mind and the fact that its supposed to be a S.H.I.V.A. base, I came up with this plan....

We also later came up with the idea that it might be fun to have Cambodian temple ruins in the jungle side of things....

So with ALL that in mind I've made a start. I've got 6mm MDF for the base board and 50mm blue foam for the ground. I've detailed the edges of the board with the same brickwork that'll be on the temple bits....

I've also started work on the stone head that'll eventually be under tree roots and have ruined walls either side....

Now it just all needs to be finished for Salute 2014...no probs! ;)

Awesome! I'm going to follow this with great interest (and not just because my brother's cat is named Shiva, too). Cannot wait to see how you'll do mangroves/jungle foliage.

If you could spare the time, how did you do the depth on the brickwork? Did you add slices of foam or did you impress individual bricks using a stamp?

Looking forward to another outstanding build Andy. 8)  I'll be particularly interested in how you do the over-grown tree roots.

I bought some pound shop statues a few years ago with the intention of building a jungle temple of some sort, but they're still sat in the loft:

The idea was inspired by this thread that I've had book-marked for ages, which may be of interest to you: http://alkemy.webkido.com/index.php?topic=771.0

Just when I thought I had reached the limits of my envy... a new project appears. It already looks good and there's no paint and stuff on it yet.
