By the way, that brings up a good question. Can anyone suggest a good, free "old typewriter" font?

Mad Lord Snapcase (good to see another Discworld fan abroad in the world!) has beaten me to the mention of DaFont, but I'm rather font (er... fond...) of Veteran Typewriter. It's readable but distressed, and not as widely spaced (kerned) between the letters as other fonts.

Also, I'm intoxicated, and it's 0217 where I am. I should in no way be allowed upon the World Wide Webs. Nevertheless, Veteran Typewriter is a damn good font.

Downloaded the Veteran Typewriter, thanks. It's 10:50 in the morning here, so I am drinking coffee, glad to hear you're enjoying the odd drink or seven across the world!

“The disc, being flat, has no real horizon. Any adventurous sailor who got funny ideas from staring at eggs and oranges for too long and set out for the antipodes soon learned that the reason why distant ships sometimes looked as though they were disappearing over the edge of the world was that they were disappearing over the edge of the world.”

Here's a new league we've been using for playtesting. The abilities in red have not been released but are being tested for our upcoming Vice Alley expansion ---

Comments and corrections are welcome. Let me know what you think.

Please feel free to use this thread to share your own Pulp Alley league designs.

What level is that "Inventor" ability? Seems like something that would scale well? (i.e. it's available at lower levels?).

Also, is "Companions" a tradeoff ability for having no Sidekick? How many points does it cost?

I also think Inventor scales well. Currently we have it slated for Level 2.

Yes, you are correct. The tradeoff for Companions is that you cannot have a Sidekick. We are currently testing Companions as a 2 slot Perk.

Cool. I like the Companions idea, because one of my problems has been trying to frame a full group evocative characters while using only one ability. More abilities allows you to create a bit more of a sense of distinct personality for the characters involved.

Veterans of a hundred rules changes, Pop Top is one of our very first Pulp Alley playtest leagues from years ago.

In keeping with Pop Top's nefarious and colorful legacy, I've added in a few new abilities...

Ahoy!

I had my first game of Pulp Alley yesterday. We had a lot of fun (even with the usual first game mistakes one makes, like forgetting rules or misreading them :) )
I made 3 leagues from which they picked one and I got the leftover. I'm the only one in our club, who has suitable figures for a "traditional" pulp setting and most of them are still waiting in boxes. So every one used whatever figures from their collections that he felt appropriate for the character. For example The Crew of the Fortunehunter was made up from Malifaux gremlins, while my Baron was an Imperial Guard senior officer and Finigen was Grima from Lotr.

So the Leagues:

The Crew of the Fortunehunter, space/time/dimension pirates

The Baron Gromund, general viliain

and Dr. Lazarus & Co. (put together quickly at 1 am...)

We played the first scenario with the deployment of the second. The pirates won, with the Captain holding a minor and the mayor plot point at the end. The combined forces of the Baron and the Doctor couldn't finish her, although she was the last (wo)man standing from her league  lol
Both my opponents wants to play again, with leagues put together by themselves.  And that makes me very happy  :D

Cool leagues, McM! It's always interesting to see what skills/abilitie/perks other folks are picking.

I think you've got some good leagues there, but I can definitely understand that the other guys want to make their own. Creating leagues can be part of the fun!

Excellent, and that's why it's not just about beating down the other side - you've got to complete your objectives to win the day!

THANKS for sharing

Is that a couple of Clive Cussler references in the pirate league?

Heh, that was totally unintentional  lol
The name was familiar and it turns out I have a book from him, the one titled Dragon. It was a gift some years back, though I did not read it yet. I also googled up the name and found out that the movie Sahara with Matthew McConaughey is based on his book.

My brother dad and I all used to read the stuff, great horrible trashy fun. Modern Pulp, really, when you think about it.
