Hell is other people. Especially ugly people.

On the subject of superhero games, I have long since abandoned the furtive pleasures of RPGs, but I do very fondly remember those Sundays at the 'Swindon and Reading' club (meeting in a church hall smack bang in the middle of one of the many red light districts ... make of that what you will), playing Champions.

Yes, the 'Hero System' (universally adaptable to any genre) was unwieldy and one combat took an entire afternoon, but it was my first experience of character creation without a random element. No dicing for attributes, race, profession, eye colour, bowel efficiency ... no sir, no. For the first time I was able to sculpt something from my imagination, unfettered by the vaguaries of a cube.

My character was 'Oakman', an awesome dark character, taken by me from the Zenith books (but in fact, unknown to me at the time, actually a cheesy children's comicbook character from 1979-80 that was given the Grant Morrison treatment). He was a great big strong lump of wood basically. I even made my own figure from a Space Marine and lots of Milliput. Ah, happy days.

These were not young men. No these were my age and words were had at leeds when my wife WAS jostled. That aside manners cost nothing.

See, I'm getting angry just thinking about it.

Let's go find them and kick them on the nob.

My wife was once told 'We don't have anything for you here' by an employee when she entered a game store.

WTF? She was young, cute, and planning to drop $. I can't figure it out.

Some people just want to dislike other people- they'll do whether or not they have a reason. Others just don't have the socialization skills, and never will.

As a teacher I pretty much have to be an amateur psychologist and I've learned the hard way that there's a significant number of people that are not going to change from being arseholes- even if they know they are one.
a mixture of quick parts, sarcastic humour, reserve, and caprice.

Oakman's character was always a bit wooden for me, but the stories were real corkers.

Unfortunately manners are something that's slipped as time has gone by.
