Large scale boxer/pugilists: Would you buy them?

I'm thinking about commissioning Steve Barber to sculpt me a couple of 1930s bare knuckle fighters; think Sailor Steve Costigan.
They'd be shirtless and wearing pants or slacks (as if they were a couple fellows looking for a quick scrap on the waterfront.)

I'm thinking about getting them in an unorthodox scale, though, so they couldn't be used in your regular pulp games. There are already plenty of 28mm boxers and fighters available, I just think the larger figures (these would hopefully be 42mm or larger) would be much nicer for the one-on-one games (such as Rattrap's Pulp Era boxing rules, or Two Hour Wargames' Friday Night Fights.)

Would you purchase these fighters if they were available? Why or why not? Should I/we just stick to the already available 28mm fighters?

I would possibly buy a pair as I have a friend who is a boxing trainer and I have already done him a couple of display bases with sparring duos on. I would not have any use for any more though.

As for whether I'd buy them - as it stands, no. Although, if there was a range of say 5 or 6 bar-room brawlers I could be interested - especially if a couple had options to be armed with broken bottles, chair legs, knuckle dusters, etc...

A couple good ideas there. I don't know why I didn't think of 40mm- I even have my own 40mm old west collection! (I think 42mm would still work- they'd just be larger men for 40mm.)

The range of brawlers is out of my price range, but a great idea! Maybe separate hands could be sculpted, allowing each figure to be somewhat customized with your weapon choices?
(In all honesty, I had planned on getting multiple copies of these figures and convert them into armed brawlers myself. But the separate hand options would be better for the novice assembler. But separate hands also would add to the cost ... I'll have to see how much- it might not be much.)
Still, there's the possibility of adding more poses in the future. A range of brawlers, hmmm ....

I`d say no for me, a nice idea but rather too niche for gaming. 28mm perhaps if you could field boxers of renown but it must be a bit limited on sales I would think.

Interesting idea but I agree with Karl, it's a bit too niche. Gladiators work as there is quite an extensive range (considering) and the subject matter is a bit more well known.

If you are going to go down that route then possibly have them more multipart, such as separate heads, torsos and maybe even arms to give as many possibilities as possible.

Promoting a homespun ruleset such as Furt has done with his Blood on the Sands would help enormously and get some of the good gents on here to partake in bouts etc.

There have been some niches that have proved to be very popular, VBCW for one.

If you do go for it, I hope it goes well

I would be interested to buy some, depending of course on the sculpts, but think it's a nice idea.

So this idea has been put on the backburner for now. If I revisit it, I will go with the multi-part idea.

In the meantime, Steve and I are working to create a multipart (unarmored) samurai warrior instead

Not sure how popular a 'boxer' range would be.

Multipart fellas, on the other hand, would make great 'dollies' for those amongst us who like to mess about with green stuff.
I could use a few for gladiators, for instance.

Having watched RDJ's version of Sherlock Holmes again, boxers or pugilists could span a long time period if they are all bare chested which could be quite a good idea.

A pugilist version of Blood on the Sands could be a good thing as well, Black Eye in the Pit 

The multipart unarmoured samurai is a good idea though, plenty of scope there for later period games as well. Shinsengumi etc

Concur with above and with what Mason said. Some "stripped down" bodies that could be tailored with some GS would be cool.

Sorry I am going smaller, not larger. 

There is an active group of people on the Two Hour Wargames Forum that use Friday Night Fights but I am pretty sure most of them use 25/28/"Heroic" 28 mm figures for their games. 

If I was to go that gaming route in the future I think I would use 25 mm (or maybe even 15 mm) for games.

I think there were some great ideas posted earlier that I will not repeat.
