North Star 1672 & Phoenix Miniatures

Hi,

What figures would you like added to the North Star catalogue? I would like to see armoured Dutch and Spanish pikemen included and Cuirassiers with Zischagg helmet not to mention mounted commanders.

Spanish musketeers too. Elbow length sleeves, false lapels. Mark Copplestone talked about doing them when he still owned the range. They could be done by fiddling with the 'French' musketeers but would make a nice addition and the coat colours are wonderful for the period. As it's hard to really game the period without the Spanish, they were always a surprising omission.

No, I hadn't Nuno. Thanks for the  heads up. I haven't really looked at the range for quite some time and most of my figures have been languishing unpainted in a box.

The Spanish still need armoured pikemen, mounted dragoons, cavalry, artillery and mounted officers. I would like to see skirmishing musketeers and dragoons for "petite guerre" scenarios.

I know it has been a long time since this post... but, with the release of the French grenadiers and the King's Musketeers for "En Garde" , do you know if are there any plans too increase this fantastic range ? Thanks !

I don't think anybody knows what North Star's current plans for the 1672 range are. Steve Saleh, who took over sculpting duties from Mark Copplestone, has left the company and joined Warlord. Whoever did the French grenadier pack obviously is a sculptor of a lesser calibre and no new releases have been announced aside from the Musketeer figures.

Of course, one could secretly hope that now that Copplestone Castings have been absorbed by North Star, there might be a way for Nick Eyre to persuade Mark Copplestone to sculpt new figures for the 1672 range but I have no idea whether that's on the cards, to be honest.

I really love the period and the figures which Mark and Steve sculpted. For me, the main thing that's missing is not new types of troops but rather more variety for the existing types. I'd love to see more poses for the existing infantry and cavalry types.

I dunno. The original Copplestone range gave me pretty much all I needed for Sedgemoor, Tangier and fighting the Dutch in the Medway. Sorted! Everything over and above was just icing on the cake.

The truly wonderful thing about an English Restoration army is that it's actually possible to field the whole thing on a table.

Hello again! A full year have passed, and at least mounted King's musketeers were released, and some changes with the packs have been done ( for The Pikeman's Lament ) So I assume the range is not dead... But any rumours of anything new ?
