10mm demonic hordes ?
« on: 17 October 2013, 02:32:43 PM »
Hi,

I'm currently planning to add a demonic army for my 10mm Rally Round the King future campaign.

I'd like this army to be composed of true horrific creatures. No beastmen (it's another army I plan to do), no classic horned red demons. Something weirder, uglier.

I'm thinking of Cthulu creatures, or even "oldhammer" tzentch or nurgle beasts (I don't know how they are today, but 15 years before, it was colorfull and really uncommon).

Any good ideas ?

thanks

dimitri

What about a load of nurglings? I've used them for 15mm:

They should be easy to source and are very quick to paint with green and brown inks.

I went on ebay, these things are too expensive for me. Especially the plastic ones  :o

I'll have to find other minis for my projet.

How about some of the 'Creatures and Nightmares' from 15mm.co.uk http://www.15mm.co.uk/SHM_Range.htm?

thanks, but it's too scifi. I'm searching for fantasy. And the non-armed creatures are not terrific enough  lol

What about these from Ral Partha(they're 15mm mind, but could work):

Or these from Black Hat:

I don't really know many 10mm ranges apart from GW, Pendraken, Magister Militum and Eureka, and as far as I can remember I don't recall anything demonic that falls outside your list, so I'd guess 15mm is your best bet.

Demongirls are too classic, the big potatoes mouths and slugs are well sculpted, but not very terrific too.

I also think that using 15mm is the key, but it seems that there is not that much original demonic troups available... Or they are very classic, or a bit funny.

Maybe I should take a look on cthuly-ish minis instead.

Eureka Miniatures has some 10mm mythological Chinese warriors you could paint as demons riding demons:

How about some Dark Realm Skyth beasties - http://www.darkrealmminiatures.co.uk/store/home.php?cat=24?
They're 6mm scale but should form nice 10mm hordes.

For my 15mm HOTT army I've used these:

They're AD&D plastic figures and should do for 10mm behemoths.
You can also get these from East Riding Miniatures though you'll have to send Tony an email of the picture because I can't remember what they're called and he doesn't actually show them on his website:

I don't know whether to be a good example or a horrible warning.
