Am not sure about the shape of the Hanson, just does not look right.

Sounds like I built mine the same way as you, I have the spring parallel to the axle. There's a Hanson at a local museum so went by that.

Very nice brush work. The hansom is superb.
Not sure about the Ned Kelly guy. I tend to see the historical person as a police murderer, so not someone to celebrate. But, that's an issue of some debate in Australia. Hmm...
