Simon, mate. It saddens, and glads me that you're taking these steps to gain focus. And I can very much identify myself with your butterfly notions. Luckily, having a family have put much constrains on my flogging impulses. I hope to get rid of a lot of tat the following month, just to regain focus.
I wish you well mate, and hope that you're alright in the end :)

Sorry to hear you are quitting the forum and hope you manage to resolve your problems.  I think we all have the addiction you describe and most of us also possess the butterfly mentality, which is never helped by viewing other peoples' work in different genres on this and other forums/blogs. You appear to be unfortunate in having caught a particulary bad case of the addiction. Hope you learn how to control it to your satisfaction. All the best for the future.

Take it easy Simon. I know where you're coming from mate. It's easy to get lost in this mini world and just as easy  to end up chasing the resin/plastic/lead dragon.

Some people know this, my Dad died this February, prostate cancer. I know that in order to escape from some of the loss and pain of  his death I know that I hit the lead as it were. Its bizarre, because my concentration has been massively affected so as people have seen my project output has just gone through the floor but my purchases have rocketed.  Fortunately though,  like you,  I've now gained some insight and personally I'm in a better place now.

I hope you find that place too. See u soon.

Hey, thats how it goes.
I think many of us have the hoarder/addict mentality. I certainly do. But there's nothing wrong with that as long as it stays under control. A sabattical c.q. detoxing period does wonders. Try to read those books or do whatever the things you always wanted instead of frothing on the internets and impulse-buying.
Get off the internet would indeed be the first step. The internets aint what it used to be anyway!

Stay strong and see you around.

My sympathies: I'm having a bit of disillusionment myself.
