I totally agree!  The mats I'm using I got in the States in the cheap.  I have a sample of the Hobby Den product and I plan to order their mat which matches my bases better.

A small conversion using the Anglo Saxon Thegn boxset from GB.  Strangely enough it does not come with the double handed axes and I didnt want to buy the Viking set just for them.

And a top shot of a sample of the mat sold by the Hobby Den.  Nice material and great price.  I kinda like it, what do you guys think?

Ah, just noticed something...  If you see the slinger on the far left, and his sling looking a bit 'stubby'....  I set there on my mantle at night to dry over the stove turned full blast....well you get the picture.  So warm enough to shrinky dink them but not enough to melt....  I like it.  They stay!

Excellent additions, a great axe conversion ( ) and that mat will look just great.

As for that slinger....a 'training sling' perhaps.

My mom made me wear a training sling when I was younger, come to think of it so did the first Mrs TBC...  I also noticed a few guys suffer from 'limp sling'....

We had a meeting at the local Amsterdam game club, 6 Shooters.

Wanted to share some pics of our SAGA game, Anglo-Saxon, meets, Anglo-Dane, meets Viking in the village of Wyr Skruude 











The setup was poor for a 3-man game, the scenario begins with all players in corners, but this invariably has one person in the middle.  What ended up happening is that I was int he middle, ran to the Anglo-Danes, fought with them and the poor Anglo-Saxon player spent the game chasing us. The terrain being in the middle of the table did not help things for the Saxon player, it just become obstacles to even getting close enough for missile fire....

It's a really nice club.  The meeting place is very nice, and about 2 streets away from my flat which is super convenient! Nice group of guys and some ladies and a huge variety of things to play.  Yesterday there was Hail Caesar, SAGA, WHFB, x-wing and a few board games and bookshelf varieties as well.
