Considering the nature of his enterprise this could be an interesting sensation...

 lol lol

I have just discovered the perfect figure in my collection for Dirk and his assistant.
I shall rebase them and post pictures later.
 ;)

That's an excellent way of using the surplus camping gear. VERY WELL & IMAGINATIVELY DONE!

Does Dirk have the appropriate permits and planning permission for this structure?  Otherwise it's an unlawful erection and may have to be pulled down.

Thanks, Amigo.
You probably would not be surprised if I told you that there is a huge pile of 'surpus' gear that has not been used in this project yet.
When I have finished the last few buildings I will have to have a clearout so I dont keep getting new ideas of how to use it.
Either that or this project will never end....

 lol lol
Please, dont mention Dity Dirk and 'unlawful erection' in the same sentence.
Nobody needs to hear that!
 :o :o

Another bit of good news: Bugsda has just informed me that he has finished GeroniMac and I should get my mitts on him tomorrow.
He shall be there, in all his 'chained' glory, after all.
Phew!

Railroad Boxcar WIP... The Town of Upsheet Creek UD:06/10
« Reply #2750 on: 06 October 2015, 07:02:27 PM »
Well, I have managed to quickly knock up a railroad boxcar out of balsa.

It will do for a one-off game, bearing in mind that I HAVE to finish it today.

Just gotta paint it up and hope it looks the part with a bit of brushwork....

That'll look just fine with a bit of paint on it.

Careful how you use that thing Mason. No-one wants to suffer Boxcar Willie. It can be very embarassing.

 lol lol
It will probably only get used this weekend, after that I should be safe.

I have finished the painting on the boxcar and should have some pictures tomorrow.

All done now, apart from one more thing that is......

Alrighty, then.  It's called a box car but it has an open end platform, covered.  Not really a combine (passenger, express combination car), it's not really a box car, it's not really a drover's caboose.  I think you've invented something new to railroading.  Or were you working from a photo or plans?  Never seen anything quite like that.  I wouldn't call my self a train spotter but I am into trains, for dang near fifty years.

So, what is that thing, really?   :?

I don't check in this thread for a week and see what I miss?

Lords below, Mason. You've been busy. A damn fine job for a man under the gun!

 lol lol lol

I knew someone would have to do it....

I confess, I made it up.
Just threw together some bits of balsa that I had to make GeroniMac's Ride.
The theory is that the 'boxcar' bit with the sliding doors is where you put your prisoner/s, and the other bit with the canopy is where the 'guards' hang out.

There ya go.
 :D

Just about finished now.
I do have to set the table up today, for two reasons:

1. So I know where everything goes on Saturday without having to mess around moving things.
2. So when I pack it all away I know that everything is there and I have not forgotten anything (I hope!).

GeroniMac's 'Ride'.... The Town of Upsheet Creek UD:07/10
« Reply #2758 on: 07 October 2015, 09:51:15 AM »
The offending article....

As previously mentioned, something I made up and threw together last night to act as the Government Snatch Wagon for the BLAM game.
A very quick paint job, but it will do.

Now, the question is: Will GeroniMac get to ride in his new wagon or will his band rescue him from that fate?

Great job Paul
The only thing that does not meet BR Standard specification is the lack of a safety rail in the smoking area to stop the guard falling (getting pushed) out.
Not a train spotter but a Railway emgineer for 30 years so I am supposed to know what I'm talking about. Put a sign saying mind the step and you'll be ok
