Bolo armoured train decals - translation help needed
« on: November 10, 2013, 09:39:21 AM »
Chaps

Have just ordered Coy B's excellent looking armoured train decals for the whites and reds from Brigade games.

However I was wondering what the decals actually say?  here's the red ones:

thanks in advance!

1. "R.S.F.S.R." - The Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic. It's not the name of the train - it a designation of belonging to Soviet Russia.

2. "Victory (weird symbol) Death". According to the logic between these words should be the word "или". The slogan should sound "Victory or Death". Font styled Old Church Slavonic - therefore more suitable white than reds.

3. "Destruction of oncoming revolution". Just a strange set of words ...

4. "Death of the parasites". Great slogan for the red armored train.

5. See item 1.

6. "Spartacus". Is the name of the leader of the slave revolt in ancient Rome. Perfect for the red armored train.

7. "Death of Whites".

but, just if, for a moment, it was to be called 'death to smirnoff',

a) what would that be in russian?

and

b) how might i make the decals?

From a vodka perspective shouldn't it be "down with Smirnoff"?

Or maybe "put Smirnoff on ice"?

"СМЕРТЬ СМИРНОВ" (using "SMIRNOV" instead of "SMIRNOFF").

Correctly on Russian will "СМЕРТЬ СМИРНОВУ!".
But it is better to write "Death bourgeois Smirnov" -  СМЕРТЬ БУРЖУЮ СМИРНОВУ!

Thanks for the slogans, they will soon be on my Russian (WW2) tanks & buildings. I will not bother making transfers (decals), I will simply use my white acrylic gel pen. I agree it 'Down with Smirnov' & Put Smirnov on ice!' would be interesting, what would they be like?
Thanks in advance if you provide them for us.
