Size clearly doesn't matter!

Very nicely coloured in. ;D

Thanks very much guys :)

Next up it's some government dragoons, ready to ride down the piratical scum of the seas as soon as they set foot on the verdant shores of Puerto Caramba.

These are actually drawn from the two Pendraken League of Augsburg mounted personality packs - 14 different teeny tiny flamboyant characters on horseback, and probably the best of the Pendraken figures I've painted so far. Quite a pleasant change from the usual packs of 50 figures in 3 or 4 poses! (I do appreciate I'm not really the target market and that they're configured for big battles not skirmish games lol) Anyway... They're rather nifty. I like them a lot.

And just for the avoidance of doubt as to their Lilliputian size, shown here with a 28mm Bloody Miniatures ECW mounted personality...

Are you going to add some natives, either Caribbean or Polynesian to add to your scenario options?

I've looked. Can't find anything remotely suitable in Pendraken's catalogue. They have like one pack of Zulus and one or two of Aztecs. Not much cop for what I want. I even looked at Picts and ancient Libyans - again, nothing that will pass muster as hostile native islanders. So may just have to forgo that one  :)

Another lovely group. :-*
Newline Designs also have 10mm ranges and they have zulus. Saddly no pictures but if they are like the 20mm designs they are very nice. You just need to confirm if the size is compatible.

For your artillery do check Peter Pig pirates range, the light guns. They seem small even for Peter Pig figures and they may suit the 10mm. If you want i can take a photo close to a 15mm figure.

These are absolutely wonderful - your painting lends so much character to such little figures.

Re: no natives.  That is such a travesty I've taken it upon myself to send Pendraken a message about rectifying the situation.  Have no idea what will result but who knows.  And I pasted in a link to this thread so maybe that will help.

Understand why you like the horses - and nice job on them, when I painted my generals for my SYW 10 mm army I felt the same way - though I used the figures from OG25s.  Hmm, maybe something there will work for natives...nope, nothing stands out, and few photos.  Probably too small to match with your figures anyway.

Absolutely fantastic work on these, the assortment of figures from the different ranges have come together great.

What kind of look/dress are you after?  We might have something hiding in there somewhere.

Thanks Leon - glad you like them :)

I guess the closest thing for (entirely fictional) ‘Golden Age of Piracy’ type natives would be Darkest Africa style tribesmen with spears and shields and possibly bows. The pirates beloved of the movies, historically ranged widely between the Caribbean and West Africa, so actually South Seas islanders or East Indies headhunters etc wouldn’t really fit the genre. Although South / Central American jungle tribal types like the Tupi would also work well  :)

Obrigado Rui :)

I shall take a look at those. Thank you for the suggestion.

What a great little project! Small scale skirmishes look almost as good as 28mm ones but are easier to make and requier lesser space.

Thank you :)

Yes, the ability to do a whole pirate port on a single 600mm.sq. styrofoam slab, and a second slab with a turquoise tropical sea and a couple of palm-fringed white-sand islands is very much the appeal.

I already have a sizeable 28mm pirate collection - this is really just an opportunity to create some dioramic scenery in an easy-to-store and easy-to-transport scale.

Speaking of which, I've sourced the buildings for Puerto Caramba, and here they are.

These are all 10mm scale buildings which work well with the 10mm figures. Interestingly, the 10mm boats and ships don't look quite big enough, so I'm doing all those in 15mm, but the buildings look perfectly in scale with the figures.

Unsurprising really, because most of the buildings are from Pendraken's own Peninsular War scenery range which I picked up at Salute. These are simple but solid little resin lumps with a pleasingly economical amount of detail, but should paint up very easily and will serve well enough for a Caribbean pirate town. They're very cleanly cast and remarkably inexpensive - the smaller buildings and outhouses are 4.00 GBP each, and the larger ones, up to and including the church, only 6.00 - 8.00 GBP.

The two more, er.. baroque buildings at the front are 3D printed, so don't quite fit in style wise - but they will once painted and all positioned together in their shared scenic setting. These cost about 12.00 GBP each, so the entire town has cost about £75  8) Another advantage of doing stuff in very small scales!

The 3D printed buildings are incredibly well detailed, including full interiors.
Unfortunately I probably won't take advantage of these, because I don't really plan in-building fighting in this tiny scale. (Especially since you won't be able to get into any of the other solid resin buildings). So I'll probably just glue them together.

I will say that there's been a little bit of warping of roofs and timber supports here and there, so they don't fit together quite as perfectly as they should. But a few moments with a hot air gun ought to fix that, and it's another reason to actually stick them together permanently. Because there are a lot of fiddly little bits :)

Good set of buildings - I have the Pendraken Peninsular ones and they paint up very nicely and quickly - so very much looking forward to seeing these in situ.

I have that very building with the wrap around porch in 15 mm, it just shouted "Pirates" at me when I saw it - and you are right about many parts.  Even in 15 mm I am likely to glue my buildings together rather than try to use the interiors.  Not entirely decided because some 3D buildings have seriously nice interior detailing.  At the very least, I will do some painting of the interiors before glueing to improve their look once assembled.  But those without interior detailing, glued together for sure, but still painting the interiors of the 3D prints.

And, in case you are unaware, there is a special plastics two-part epoxy that, so far, has worked great for 3D prints.  It is from JB Weld and unlike some of their other epoxies it does NOT change color when mixed.  I find it at local hardware store here in USA.

Now, for some serious temptation, a governor's mansion from Tabletop Terrain - but you will need to make a special request to have printed in 10 mm (if he is willing):

I have it in 15 mm and it is gorgeous - and large and filled with interior detailing. (Great for Zorro games, too - if only I could find appropriate figures in 15 mm!)
