Well the first fluff question is: Have pigeons survived the nuclear apocalypse? Is there seed/food for them? Are they extinct? Have they gotten bigger and carnivorous - eating rad-roaches, like some andean condor? Which leads to 1) there is only remnants of pre-war poop that hasn't been weathered away in atomic dust storms 2) Yes, you need much more poop 3) Pigeons are too big to cluster on the monument... but the one that does leaves a big mess.

 ;D

Nice WGF russian ;) Stop writing and get modelling! :D

Cheers

Hmn, well as the devs can't be bothered implementing things that serve for purely ambient effect I guess we'll never know. There's crows and small birds in New Vegas, so I'll assume that pigeons (who spend most of their time scavenging anyway) would've survived too. Though considering they scavenge I wonder if they'd have eventually ran out of food given that there wasn't as many humans around to produce it. I'll say yes, and that there's massive rat/pigeon/badger hybrids flying about the UK which have wiped out most of the indigenous population. I think the real question is if there's faeces out there which has become sentient and is preying on pigeons. =P

Hmph, well then. I dropped off the shield. I guess he needs both hands anyway to use that pole buzz saw thing.

Well here's the Iconoclast painted. With shield (which is upside down, luckily its only held on by still drying varnish...) or without? Hmn, I could go over this guy with a more obvious highlight looking at it. Whatever, the chances of you lot seeing another close up like this where its noticeable are low (hell and when am I ever going to get around to taking pictures of a game?). =P

I had a spare body on my desk too, so turned it into some sort of Ghoul mercenary. Even cut down that Games Workshop scope is massive. ¬¬

And uh, I added more pigeon crap to the statue. ...Uh, sure, yeah, want a close up?

Right, I'm now too tired to be bothered to finish anything else. I'll try and have the Radio Tower finished before Tuesday, though I'd rather work on smaller pieces that I can use in any game than set pieces like that. That probably means the next thing on my to do list are those crates and the Bloatfly Bites stall, but I'll see what happens. Anyway, toodles.

I know you like to convert but maybe some of the Leadadventure stuff might work(or as some Metro/stalker) to go with your stuff, Apoc is Apoc afterall.

I've eyed up the Lead Adventure post apocalyptic stuff before, but I can't justify the prices on top of any shipping fees. There's a show that had the full range stocked last time I went coming up, so I may pick up some bits and pieces there (I want the gas mask head set to use for Lobotomites). Yeah, recently I've been just converting things instead of using models from scratch, so those models that I am buying now have to be characterful. Not to say that the Lead Adventure stuff isn't, but that I'd rather not buy a blister of models just for one sculpt that I like (uh, especially given that I've been buying minis for 50p each lately at my club). So, if something catches my eye I'll pick it up, but its the summer and I'm skint, so the chances of me splurging right now aren't very high (the pile of unpainted models keeps letting out a sigh I bring home another friend for it).

Well this turned out better than I thought.

Yup, some ghoul wearing a set of BADTFL issue combat armour (well well parts of one) and carrying some sort of DMR (which totally isn't a Secrets of the Third Reich M1 Garand). So, let's assume he's either an ex-soldier or he just came upon some military grade gear. Whatever, another mercenary type to go along with the other combat armour wearing models which I've made.

Anway, bleh, other crap to work on now.

With the forum being as it has been the past few weeks I've not been updating this thread with progress much. Its fixed now (hopefully), so down to what I've been doing since the last post.

...Not much. ;)

I was on the look out for some models to use as statues the last time stuff was for sale at my club. Unfortunately one guy bought most of the nudie girls for some reason, but these few will do for the moment. They're still short of some greenstuff work (adding Valkyrie style bits to the women with the sword for one), but hopefully they'll turn into some nice art-deco statues (well bar the NCR Ranger one).

That's actually an older picture. Since that was taken I've made a pair of matching plinths for the guys with spears. As I don't think I'll be building any pre-war monolithic buildings any time soon most of those statues will be free standing like these so I can actually use them. These are still unfinished (the statues don't even have hands). The big disc on the front's supposed to hold a government seal or something similar, though I'm debating what to do with it. An idea's been to get a hold of quarter or something and use one of those.

Two more Brotherhood Paladins are in the works too (um, not just because I've had that Vinni one unbuilt for a good while now). The T45-d guy's looking like a Senior Paladin that'll lead my existing one, whilst the T51-b one's just me trying to emulate what I did with the first one that I put together (out of mostly Games Workshop parts, but for the most part those are just serving as an armature). The T51-b Paladin's armed with a .50 Calibur machine gun which I'm still debating whether to give just a simple box magazine, or have it fed from a backpack. He's still a major WIP in any case.

I picked up a load of armatures along with the statues. A male one's being used as the statue holding the disc thing (which personally I think is too small, but it'll do), but I've also used the same female one to make a bunch of Raiders.

These were the first two I put together before I started going off on a tangent (um, you'll see what I'm referring to in the other pics). The one on the left wound up looking more like a tribal than a Raider, but I suppose I can do with some women in that group too.

After that pair I found an old GW Paranoia CRT monitor and, looking at the original Metal Armour concept art, decided to make some raiders wearing armour made from scrap robot parts.

I suppose these represent Raiders living in a more urban setting where robots and office materials are more common. Don't talk to me about the practicality of wearing a boxy monitor on top of your head. Better than one of the modern plastic ones anyway (I totally haven't broken any of those before...).

Hmn, now what else is there? Well the radio tower is kind of finished, though its been in a "kind of finished" state for a few weeks now. I've finished off the fencing that goes along with it, so its just down to me being bothered to paint the last bits. Unfortunately I do tend to wear myself out if I work on one thing for too long, hence why I haven't finished that thing yet. There's a pair of shacks too which need to be work on as well (which I think are in the background of the plinths image), but I'm short of paint, so I can't do much with those at the moment (which I meant to pick up today, but bleh, I spent too out last night). There's been progress at least, and well hopefully all those WIPs will do for an update for the moment. Meh, its the summer now and I have friends over, so playing with my dollies isn't the most practical thing right now. ^^'

Just the other day I was thinking it's pretty quiet Fallout-wise. And here you are with a load of new stuff. :)

The quarter idea for the plinths sounds good. Maybe I'd embed them though, so they dont look to much like coins.
The conversions look very cool, looking forward to a lick of paint on those.

Tah for the appreciate folks its ...uh appreciated.

...Hmn, I need a thesaurus.

...

With the spammer problem lately, and well it being summer I guess people have other things to do (or they're working away on secret projects and are preparing super mega updates). Meh, nah for the next couple of days I have people staying over so all my modelling crap's been shoved away to make space for people to sleep (my bed only fits two, and well even then I still wind up being kicked out in the middle of the night typical. ...Women are evil). So for the immediate future I can't do much as unfortunately I have to tend to my social life. Worry not though, my friends will piss off to whatever pill of refuse they crawled out of this time.

I was just going to plunk the coins straight on top of the based, but yeah ...I suppose I should add a lip about the edge of something. That is if I can even find ones around here without having to go to the bank. Hmph, if only I had set my games in France, I have a load of Francs and other European and Arab currencies in a jar, but sadly all my US stuff is in notes. Whatever, I don't have an immediate use for the statues, so I can put off working on them for a bit.

To that end the stuff I'm working on at the moment should take too long to finish (he says after sitting on one piece of terrain for a month and a half) once I can get around to working on it. Next up, after the Raiders that is, will probably be another of those toy doll's houses (maybe two actually, I have a few more that need to be worked on, but one of those doesn't look too difficult either). I don't want to lay down too many plans though, as it may be a while before I actually finish the current lot, but I'll say that's what I'm peening for (not least because having brightly coloured doll houses sitting on top of my "to do" pile looks a little odd).

Anyway, for now, tìoraidh. :)

@Messyart

Wastelanders
Wanamingo

I'm unsure about the source of this, or even what its called (I was told its a D&D monster, beginning with an "O" I think). I just looked at it and thought "Hmn, if I painted that up in a lovely shade of purple like a particular sex toy that'd look like that thing from Fallout". Not wanting to ruin the paint job however I left on the third tentacle and leg. Should I find another though I'll hack those off.

You are right, it's an Otyugh from D&D fame - that looks like an OLD Chainmail sculpt and, looks quite fitting as a mutated, uber-wanamingo! Because of its age, I doubt you will have an easy time finding that exact sculpt; here are some alternatives:

Prepainted fig from the D&D Miniatures line, #27 of the Giants of Legend set

And that same sculpt (unpainted) from the Wrath of Ashardalon boardgame

Both are made of plastic

@ kwiker

If its anything its probably an ancient sculpt. The guy bought it off of is selling his father's 30+ year old collection off and its full of plenty OOP toys. I've seen both of those plastic minis since I bought that metal one, though they were a hell of a lot more expensive than what I paid. For the moment the one I have can act like a lonely creature wandering about after the rest of its kind died out, or, if I actually get around to it, a pack leader for a larger group (I have some baby Wanamingos that need painted). Right now though I don't really need too many more creatures though, as well they aren't used too often in games (something which I may change, as current games are becoming fire fights too often). Heh, thanks for the input in any case. ...Who the hell sneezed and spat out those syllables? ^^

I have another zombie game on next week and I thought some of these would be fun.

My computer's gubbed right now so I haven't actually played the game (they're supposed to be Clickers from The Last of Us btw), no matter how much I want to. Still, cool right? No? Well, as ever, go die in a well. ;)

Work's progressed on other things too, though that hasn't actually amounted in anything being finished. No, with my hours these past couple of weeks I've not have the drive to work on much, and when I have its only been little bits here and there. A list though of what's sitting about in various states of completeness (oh and btw, yeah I know I've shown many another WIP here, this is just the crap that's made it to my painting table and not the shelf I keep everything else on).

* 1x Pre-war Suburban House + Picket Fence set - the building's half painted, the fences have just been built and need tatting up some more

* 1x Factory building - still being put together. For the most part, after a bit of sand, its ready to be painted

* 1x Radio Tower and Mesh Fence Enclosure - oh yeah, this thing. Pretty much done, bar the base. The fencing's finished, but just a bit dull to post on its own

* 2x Shacks - mostly painted. Won't take much to finish, again its just fining the enthusiasm.

* A set of Pre-war statues - these on the backburner for the moment, though I haven't papped them off my table just yet. Once the inner city urban stuff starts being worked on I'll start on these again.

Uh, and other crap that's been lost under the bits piles no doubt. There's also some more suburban buildings (like the diner) that've been set aside, but which I thought I'd mention as the plan is to work on these between other pieces just because how simple they tend to be to make.

At the moment my plans are just to finish the first four things on that list there. That crap's been sitting about my table for so long though that I can't manage to actually work on any of it. Rather I just churn more crap out instead. Still, its been worked on in little bits, so none of it should take too long to actually finish (and hey at least now I don't have like three hours free a day).

So yeah, that's the plan: actually finish the crap I said I would. No laying out anything else till that's done (he says, tune in tomorrow to hear about me wanting to make a skyscraper or something).

Bugger, and crap I knew I forgot something. Yeah, pictures. ...Woops (see people actually plan this crap, personally I feel that's just making you fall down at the first hurdle).

Raider Chip Heads. Remember the guys with monitors on their heads?

City Raiders is the idea I was going for with these ones. They've salvaged old computer parts from offices and cannibalised robots to make their armour. An interesting concept I'dve liked to see in the games (the Metal Armour's supposed to be made similarly, though in the original concept art it resembled what I went for more). Oh and most of these minis are female, its just the guy with the LMG that's a ...guy. The painting could be better, but again excuses about not having the time lately. I need to paint up another new background too. The white sheets were annoying me so I gave them a bit of texture, though now I'm seeing that have an orange mini in front of an orange background probably wasn't the best idea. A nice blue one is probably warranted.

Here's the factory thing I've put together. This is made out of bits from a Thomas the Tank engine set (which I posted here way back come to think of it) along with some Tamiya brick walls. I have the parts to make another one, I'm just short on the Tamiya bits (which I forgot to buy last time I saw some, but should be able to pick up fairly easily), though I'd like to have a pair of these at some point. For scale its mounted on a sheet of A4 plasticard, with that being the Legion Lady I made a bit ago.

And well the home, shacks and radio tower I can't be bothered posting as well they've already been seen in part (the shacks are just more of the same, and uh, I forgot to post the house, but that's not the point, but an unpainted version of it was posted ages ago). They'll be up soon enough at least, so nae grumbling.

Anyway, I've probably missed something or other important out, but that's all I can think of right now and I'm rambling enough already. There's the plans. The zombie game for next week's going to run something along the lines of 28 Days Later hopefully, though at the moment nothing concrete's been worked out (the initial idea was to use a scenario from 7ombieTv's Vlad's army where a bunch of soldiers are hold up in a fortress but with modern Brits replacing the Afrika Corps). ...Uh, the Clickers were just for my own amusement, but hey they might go somewhere, never know. Whatever, there's your lot. Long time no see, now screw off back to whatever hole/dark corner of the attic (or hole in the attic for you Grues reading) you shambled out of. :)
