Hey all. Not a proper update, but I think some of you folks might be interested in knowing the Qwertee (a company who make limited edition tshirts) has a pair of Fallout ones on sale now for the next 48 hours at £8 each. So yeah, sorry to get your hopes about me actually posting crap, but hey look, go spend money. I'm having a go at tackling some painting at the moment, with half of the Slavers sitting in some state of paintedness, but I'm sure I'll find something else to stick in with them by the time I actually post something here. :)

Heh, though I'm now almost totally skint I did pick both of those up as I feel I aught to wear some Fallout merchandise when playing games more often. I picked up a Nuka Cola one from the same site ages ago and've been waiting for more to turn up.

Tsk, and looking at what I've posted lately I noticed that the second shop hasn't had an updated picture posted. ...Not that I'll be posting one right now as ...I can't exactly be bothered, but still, I'll see about working on it a bit and chucking one up soonish (ie next week. Did I say week, I meant year).

Oh hello there, remember me? ^^

I'll see about posting some pictures tomorrow, but I hazard to say I have actually painted stuff. ...Though ah, that's not what this post is about. Nah, that'd be silly. Instead I'm here to talk about Jesus. ...Nope, that wasn't it either.

...Hang on, gimme a sec to check me notes.

Ah right. Yes, here I am. I'm interested in buying one of those fancy textured gaming mats the kids down at the local discotec are flaunting nowadays. Now I've narrowed my options down to two (that's to say I only managed to find a pair of applicable ones in the first place). One is your grey sandy wasteland in the style of Fallout 3 (which does for a deader look, and sort of fits in with the colour of sand on my bases). The other one has a bit more colour to it, ie evocative of New Vegas (which I'm kind of more iclined to due to it not looking quite so sparse, so I could manage some more flora about it). They're both roughly the same price (£30-ish), but I can't quite decide which to go for. So, just to twig you lot before I throw some money away, any opinions?

Uni's started up for me, so there's another time sink for me to deal with. Ack, but I'll deal with it. I've managed some more terrain and minis since I last posted here, which based on whether I can be bothered finding my camera, sh ould turn up here tomorrow-ish. I also played a game with some of my terrain last night as well (specifically my suburban stuff, which unfortunately I still have a lot to finish, so the table could have been better set up. ...That's me nitpicking though) which one of the players happened to take some photos of. Whether I can filch those off of him soonish is up to how much of my prodding stick he can handle though. Anyhow, I'm not dead, and I'm back to not being entirely skint, so I should get back into the swing of buying a load of crap and not bothering to paint it once more. Huh, that reminds me I still have that bloody radio tower from three months ago... ;)

I'll second the, uh, second one. Nice quality and great for Core Region and New Vegas areas, which seems to be the theme your forces are centered on anyway.

First off : are you sure these are textured ? I had a look at the website of gamemat.eu and found they sell printed vinyl (so no real texture like zuzzy mats)

as for your choice of color : you've already painted and based quite some minis, right. So why not go with the color you think your minis will fit on best.

Good catch zizi, didn't notice that particular word there. That second mat is also not textured, but an image on a sheet of PVC.

The second one looks better imho. And looking at your bases I think both mats should work fine with them. Let us know what you think when you get whichever mat you decide on.

Ah crap, I used the wrong word when describing the things. Textured as in its not just a blank sheet of vinyl, not that its rough to the touch. ...Yup, my vocabulary needs work.

As far as which my bases would fit in with, uh, like Gargobot said, either could probably do. I'll give it till my loan properly comes in, but I think I'm more inclined to the second one. Uh, not just because its cheerier (ooh purdy bright colours), but yeah, because its not quite as dead looking (both are deserts, the second one isn't quite so grey though).

So there's that. I'm trying to put together a game for one of my club's charity all day gaming days. Hopefully whichever one of these I pick up will have arrived by then and that someone can takes some pictures (that is if I can find the players for it. My regulars are doing their own thing, but there's still two months to go to pick up more).

I'll post up images later in the day, just need to do a bit of tidying first.  One of the shops isn't going to be completely finished as I'm short on ink to print off some details I want for it though. ...That's enough groaning from me for the moment however. Tah for the feedback. ;)

See I said I'd post something. You can retract all the death threats and quit standing on a soap box in the street proclaiming me the anti-Christ. ^^

Right, well here's the first batch of Slaver's which I've put together. There's a further three or four still in need of a bit more greenstuff loving, but these will do for the moment. Wargames Factory Americans/Germans were used as ever as a basis for these. Now whilst Slavery's been outlawed in the NCR for a good few decades, and the Legion probably doesn't enjoy people moving in on their territory either, I bet I'll still find a use for these fellers in games. I've actually been using my Raiders and mercenaries as survivors for 7ombieTv games lately and these fit that bill quite nicely actually . Anyway, hopefully these can be differentiated enough from the regular raiders not to cause too much confusion (I've gone for either a Mad Max Striiperific look, or kitted them out with scrap metal armour with the Raiders, whereas the Slavers wear lots of heavy cloth and have more of a para-military look-the word Fallout 3's concept artist used was "Rockabilly" actually).

Then we have a Super Mutant which I've had unpainted for a while and a handyman named Jeff. The Super Mutant's a Repaer Ogre (the specific one I mentioned when I originally posted the WIP) which I swapped out the comedy caveman club for a scrap rifle and added some extra armour too. Jeff's a Wargame's Factory German with a West Wind head.

Terrain now. Yeah, there's a backlog. =(

I heard you like orange things... I like how this thing turned out. ^^

Looks like some students got together just before the war happened and decided to use this plaza as a bit of an outlet for their woes. This is based off of a piece of Fallout 3 concept art which never made it into the game (the concept artist went over what the world builders came up with with how he thought they could be improved, but as a whole only a few of these suggestions were implemented - presumably because they weren't willing to go over the whole game again and turn it into some sort of art deco hell). The Lion's from Ainsty Castings, the rest is foam and twigs from my garden.

Here's a second shop to go along with the blue one. I had a rush it a bit as I found out I didn't have quite the amount of time before a game as I did (eugh, uni), but its serviceable. The billboard needs a poster attached to it, though I haven't the ink to print one out just yet, For the moment its a bed shop, though I'm still considering making clothes rails for it. More terrain to suit an urban setting. :)

And then there's this army truck. I saved this from the bin at the charity shop where I volunteer, and with a bit of work (namely building up the rear flatbed to resemble the one in game more and some other details) it turned out all right.

Well there's what I've managed in the past couple of weeks since I last posted. Going onto the next batch I have the Shack which I made for that tutorial, the Legion crucifixes (heh, though I may stick them in with some other Legion stuff and change this thread to "Fallout: Heading West" for the week ^^), dust bins (as in my last game I was nitpicking to myself that I was missing out on details like that) and probably some other bits (I'm thinking I need some Raiders armed with special weapons at some point, a Flamethrower, LMG and RPG most likely). Heh, and that Radio Tower too hopefully. ...Probably. ...Like hell. Bugger.
