Oooh orange, I like orange!  ;)
Lovely stuff again. I wonder how you do it. I'm starting to suspect you paint in classes, during meals and possibly even when you sleep... now that would be an awesome medical condition to have; sleep painting.

I mentioned that one of the players (George of Black Smoke's Pulp Alley fame) took some pictures of the zombie game I played a few days ago on his phone. Well here they are. So here's an inclination of what my terrain looks like when thrown on a board (eugh, that crap took almost an hour to set up). Ah, don't mind the green boards. Usually I play on yellow ones, but the road sections which I borrowed were a bit too alive looking to suit those (making my own road section's on my to do list). This was also a table using my urban stuff, so it isn't exactly the most detailed one I could put together (eugh, despite only have painted a third of my shanty town bits I still have more of that than anything else...). Ah, but this is me bitching again. Quiet time. =P

Those are a sexy pair of legs. If you stick those with the hand holding a Sentry Bot's leg from yonks ago you may be able to puzzle together a complete picture of moi (uh, or I'll just get caught in another photo again). Ah, that's the spare zombie pile sitting in front of me (they wound up all being used by the end of the game. FYI the SWAT were munched, though the remaining survivors were holding out pretty well in that blue building). Lesson learned, the molotov cocktail is mightier than the Humvee mounting a .50 cal. ;)

I'm hesitant to take photographs myself as well, I'm a shit photographer. Still, its nice to see the terrain all put together rather than as the single pieces against a white background. ...Though should I start taking pictures I'd probably wind up spending more of the game doing that than actually playing, ^^'

Eugh, don't talk to me about finding stuff on that site. The blister say's just "Aircon: £3.50". They're actually listed as Airflow Units x4 on the site though and are £4 (there obviously being a discount when these items were bought at a show like I did).

That set also includes the longer unit with the three vents as well. If you're looking for more types of aircon the vents set also contains a few smaller ones (though there's no pictures on the site. One of them can be seen on the roof of the red building I posted).

Fantastic, thanks! I find their site an absolute mess and it has put me off ordering much more than I have done in the past, especially the lack of pictures of certain items.

Have you seen the new Mars Attacks! scenery by Mantic Games, isn't too bady priced and would be great or fall out.

Like a with a few British companies I wind up just leaving off buying anything from them until I see one of their stalls at a show. That and Ainsty have their stuff discounted (plus no shipping fee) there as well ...and well, at the end of a day at a show I typically have cash left over, and scenery blisters are an easy way to burn that.

I was interested in the Mars Attacks scenery, but it sort of fell off my radar because it took so long from me seeing it on the Kickstarter for it to be released. Huh, now that its out though I may prod my local game's shop to buy in some as I am looking for that particular style of ruins (they beat the Tamiya brick kits I've been using). Looking at the rest of their Mars attack stuff I kind of want to pick up that giant flee too... :)

In update news I'll say that I'm currently painting up some ruins, though have put off working on those until the order I put in for some bathroom bits turns up. They're from the same guy who made the couple of dozen toilets I have (sorry, I like supporting garden shed selllers) and I'd like to show off his stuff wherever I can (that and I already have a bathroom as part of the ruins, so adding a sink and a hand dryer will add to that). Besides from those I picked up the balsa wood to put together a set of roads today. I'm too tired (eugh, try waking up at 6AM after going to bed at 2AM) to work on those though, but should have the time tomorrow to start planning those. Not to fault my club, but I prefer using my own terrain with my post-apocalyptic stuff, and so would rather make my own roads (with a desert theme rather than a green urban one). Still, I'm at odds about the exact specifics,  particularly whether to have them usuable along with a sidewalk (ie just the road without an edge of desert), or to have them so they only work free standing. ...Given that I probably don't want to have two sets of separate roads, I'm erring towards the former.

This is what I'm planning (though maybe in a worse off state and with metro access manhole covers dotted about). Were I to add sidewalks (which hopefully I will) I'd include drains within those. Optional bits with crosswalks are a possibility too.

I gave the ruins made from Tamiya brick walls a coat of paint. Once my printer has some ink in it I'll go back and add scraps of paper about these (they're supposed to be the remains of a sort of office judging by the filing cabinets).

Like I said, the walls are Tamiya brick walls. The office furniture's by Ainsty Castings (those bits are glued down, but if there's a need I'll add my own furniture later on. I just didn't add too much as it'd be in the way of positioning models) and the bathroom fixtures (sinks, toilets and hand dryer) are by Dr H, a user on Dakka Dakka who makes bits and bobs which resemble (but are in no way based on) stuff from Fallout 3 (send him a PM there if you want anything, they're pretty affordable). I made the blue sofa from a bit of milliput over a balsa frame (if you lift it up the underside's exposed). Its a little large, and not the best style, but its a start (bonus points for me having used to own a set just like those. ...Though a bit less clean by the end of their lives).

I'm also putting together a set of roads, though they're turning into a bit of a hassle. The original bits of wood I bought turned out to be too thick, so I had to buy in another lot. That wound up warping from the glue, so I've added a plasticard backing to it. In the end my road's have cost me three times what I originally wanted to spend, and more than just picking up some scrap cutting out of a skip would be. Still, I'll forget the hassle if they turn out well enough once their done.

Something which annoyed me was deciding which road markings to put on these. I went for one based on the game (where the same model is used for every road), rather than having a separate set for both freeways and town roads (yeah, as ever that was me being pernickity). Along with the 12'' sections they'll be 6'' ones for T-junctions, crosswalks, etc. Once the roads are done I'll look into making pavements later as well (though for those I'd like to gave bits like parking meters, street lamps, benches, and bus stops, all of which will need a bit of work).

For scale those sections are 12'' x 6''. They could have been larger, but having everything divisible by three made things easier. Still, my club's one's are only 3 or 4'' across, so even though mine aren't realistically scaled, they're still better than the alternative. ...Ah, again that's me being pernickity. ;)

I'll see about planning a game in two weeks or so. For that I'd like to have a complete set of roads put together, sans the pavements (which can be worked on at a later date). Based on what actually happens it'll probably be a scenario involving a brahmin caravan, though the parties involved are still up in the air until I can actually organise who's playing. Barring those I'm still working on the task of having more terrain, which means some other pieces will presumably find their way to being painted at some point between now and when I next post anything. Anywho, bleh, toodles.

Those ruins are great, especially the elderly chap on the bog. ;)

Perhaps vynle or perspex would have been a thinner option for the roads? Look good but. You will just have to increase your dumpster diving and save costs on other aspects of the hobby ;)

Cheers
Matt

Tsk, I deleted the comment I made about the compromising position that guy died in...

The balsa wood I went for(with a layer of card on top and the same plasticard I use for all my bases on the bottom) because, as ever, of a whim. There was better materials available at the time, but they cost more and I didn't want to have to spend cutting them to the correct size. Now of course I could have just popped over to a hardware store and had some lengths cut to size, but again, I just went with the first thing to hand. Ah, heh, so I'm left with what I stuck myself in with. They'll do, but I'll have to reconsider what I use when it comes to the pavements (which will need to be twice as thick in order to sit above the roads).

A 36'' x 6'' length section works out at around £10 -£5 for the plasticard, £5 for the balsa (with the other bits included being negligible). So yes, perhaps a bit more expensive than they could have been, but whatever, they're done now. At least its better than spending however much people charge at shows, and I always prefer to make my own stuff than buy someone else's, so they're a win there.

I'm happy with where they're going any way. The skid marks, oil slicks, and general crap state fit the look I was going for, whilst the Cat's Eyes were a last minute addition which I stuck on after I'd finished everything else. The issue with making these is that I think I'll need to add a extra piece like a tire, raised manhole cover or car bonnet in order for the grass tufts not to be swashed when the roads are stacked for storage.

Lovely stuff (again  :))

They'll do, but I'll have to reconsider what I use when it comes to the pavements (which will need to be twice as thick in order to sit above the roads).

MDF or Foamed PVC.
Less practical : foamcore with plasticard on the top and against the sides. (which would probably take up quite some time and I'm not even sure if it'll be cheaper than a plate of that foamed PVC)

P.S. If there are any manufacturers of (lighted) signs in your neigboorhood you could check if they don't have any scraps.

Those ruins look real good. c: You need a casual raider figure to have lounging about in them, though. ;)
I wish I had anywhere enough space to store projects like this, though!
