Oooh, me likey. Particularly the watchtower, even though the only way up there involves crossing the line of fire. lol

Like the double long Quonsets with shutters too, definitely looting that.

And the Crabs make me want to put the rest of mine together, though sadly they and I are in separate locations.  :'(

Also, I'm craving some good ol' Maryland seafood.

All in all, great work!

Ah jeez - when did Messyart get crabs?  I missed that.  :?

Hmm, where did his post go...

@ Messyart

Oi post up your own painted one ya git. ;)

Hopefully the colour scheme I went for is what you were expecting. The eggs totally slipped my mind, but I guess they'll be next up on my painting list, maybe with those rad pools. Hmn, actually I might ask you for more of those, not sure yet.

@ Constable Bertrand

Yeah well, if everything's brown I guess that I need to actually find my models instead of camouflaging them. The gloop on the bases ties them in with some rad pools sitting on my table somewhere that I'll probably run these in a scenario with. Ah, though how they're created is me using a crappy glue which dries up quickly around the edges which I just paint in as a liquid. :D

@ WulframMors

Heh, yeah, but that's the way they are in the game, so I had to copy it. I had considering adding a few sandbags, or just getting rid of all the planks and replacing them with a ladder, but that messed with the look. Actually in New Vegas the devs changed it these were lower and just had a ramp leading up to the rear. Hmn...

The shutters meant I didn't have to mess with the finicky mesh over the windows. Just a pity the details I added weren't included in the base kit like the Italeri 1/72nd ones, but well I suppose they were cheap. :)

@ Sinewgrab

Scroll down to the bottom of the post apocalyptic page, or look in the Fallout minis pinned thread. Vinni released a Deathclaw so the chat in that thread kind of overtook Messyart's stuff. It'd be nice if Messyart had a single thread where the first post listed off what was available, with images + prices etc, well I mean till he works out his own sales method.

With the Mirelurks I'm sort of considering making a human kitted out in a set of armour made from their shells. Youknow like the Dreugh Armour from Morrowind (my favorite set in that game). I think there was actually a piece of concept art along those lines, but like a lot of things it didn't make it into the game. Just a guy kitted out in that with either a spear tipped with a claw, or a claw like a Deathclaw gauntlet with possibly a shield. The former is what I'm erring towards. Meh, just a little idea I'm considering for a scenario.

Messy really needs a webstore. I keep forgetting what is available and what is undergoing modification.

I'd say go for that Mirelurk armor, would make an interesting scenario. I believe someone put this in New Vegas already:

That Morrowind armor really makes me want to paint up some Dark Sun inspired miniatures... but my hands are already full.

The hut and the watch tower look great the browns are working just fine. The wooden shutters on the hut are insipred and I'm surprised it didn't come with chimneys.

Should I could have waited till later and actually have had any of this done? ...Hmn, nah, shiz to do. =P

I had a go at a Tribal wearing armour made from Mirelurk shells. See I didn't want him to look like a mini Mirelurk, but enough that the source was obvious. So I didn't have the shell extend over the head, but if you look at the guy from behind he still has the segmented carapace. The front as well will be obvious once its painted up in the same colours as the living ones ...hopefully. I may have a go at another guy with a set which resembles a living one more. ...I mean I'm not sure what I'll be doing with that Messyart crab that's short a claw (do I turn it into a dead one, make it another claw, or see if I can hollow the thing out and stick a pair of human arms and legs out of it).

Yeah, I'll take better pictures when this stuff's actually painted. He's standing on a rad pool that's part of a set as well, which'll be bunged in with him and a set of the eggs that came with the crabs. So, ah, sure, watch out for that in like two weeks when I next bother myself to actually paint anything (one of my Youtube subscriptions posted up a three hour long stream so I couldn't do much with my computer in that time youknow). Anyhow, eat up your morsels and maybe try varying up your diet a bit by reading one of the other Fallout threads here.  :)

And I'm gonna have to practice my sculpting. Because that right there is being looted.

Looking great, and I can't wait to see it painted, whenever that might be.  ;)

Perhaps we've heading a little too far east. ...Yeah, this thread really does have an uninspired title, but I'm stuck with it. ;)

My day's been godawful, thanks for asking. Ah, but trying to take my mind away from the fallout that's soon to hit tomorrow (..that pun was totally unintentional) here's a pair of WIPs.

Not sure if these are from Metro or S.T.A.L.K.E.R., rather they're just inspired by their general aesthetic. I doubt I'll be putting together a completely different terrain set for Eastern Europe, I just threw these together as something to keep me interested this week.

They're wargames factory Germans as ever with a load of greenstuff over them. The gas mask is from the Secrets of the Third Reich line (Soviet Survivors), and the AK-74 is from an OOP set by Ral Partha (much the pity given how modern guns seem to be a bitch to get hold of loose). I am sort of interested in Empress' new Russian minis now along with their Chenchens but well that's a slippery slope (damn, I was even picturing what a metro table would look like, ah though logistically that would be a nightmare).

The guy on the left's vaguelly based on this feller (and will be painted up in the same green, should I have time to go to the shops tomorrow). The other's your average middle aged guy in a hoodie.

Ah I have more stuff painted, but this week I haven't had the will at all to finish any of it. Perhaps nearing the end of the week when uni's finally broken up for Christmas I'll finish it off (but I suspect the crap that happened today will carry on for the rest of the week. Eugh).

Woo! Work'n for me Wyrmalla.

For a metro board id suggest a combo of a city street .. and a cave system. That is the most generic terrain I can think of to be useable in different games.

Cheers
Matt

Eugh, so I did a bad thing today and bought a Hind. I also have a pair of Red Star Russian squads and a BMP to pick up next week as well. Great. Well at least I have Christmas break.

I was in a model train shop today as well discussing how to build a subway. They didn't seem keen on the idea (I get a kick of going into model shops and asking for obscure models, apparently they don't sell Russian metro cars-and well even if they did I'm not spend £45 on a piece of terrain-, nor did the other shop I was in happen to have a 1/48th scale drone. ...a 1/72nd one yes, but well everything's in that and 1/32nd of course). My point though is that I may have a go at some S.T.A.L.K.E.R. stuff. At least my club already has terrain suitable for it, I just need to make the models and a few other bits and bobs (i.e. a complete table worth of terrain with all the trimmings). A subway/cave system would be useful (even for Fallout), but it just seems a bit too much work at the moment. Ainsty does one IIRC though as I said it'd be a hell of a lot easier just to make a few bits and bobs and add it to my club's existing stuff (that and even though my Fallout terrain is set in the desert I'm sure I'd get away with using some of it for Ukraine ...or perhaps Afghanistan. ......The S.T.A.L.K.E.R. sequel novels were set in Afghanistan. ...Just saying).

I'm considering the Skirmish Sangin rules. Of course this is me just being a bit bored at the moment and looking for something to do, so next week I may have dropped the idea, but for the moment its peaked me up after a dry patch.

Anyway there's that. I'll see what the Red Star models are like and what I can do with them (probably tweak them a bit and have them as Stalkers/Mercs), though on top of them I'm considering the new Empress Russians as Duty. Eugh, but this is all just me getting ahead of myself. For the moment I'm just working on a few Stalkers and have that Hind kit sitting there (it'll be a wreck as like hell I'll ever use an intact one).

Oh and as far as the AKs go, yeah I may pick up a box of their female survivors at some point and nab some from there. However I bloody hate that there's all these manufacturers out there who make weapons for their models but don't sell them separately. I'd love if Empress sold weapon sprues, I mean they already have them made up for personal use, but I guess there isn't a market out there for them or something (it really bemuses me though why they don't sell them as they're great). The Ral Partha sprues are pretty good though. They have a mix of WWII and Cold War guns, ranging from Makarovs, Uzis, Colt M16 to AK 74s (they seem to be aimed towards the Arab-Israeli conflict given their choice), so really useful. I just wish they sold them still, I picked up only a few secondhand unfortunately. :(

There's that ...blithering anyway. Hmn, if this goes anywhere I may just start a new thread up for it. Guess I should start thinking of terrible titles right now then. =P

Woo, stalker! Sounds good to me mate.

Personally I'd say a generic subway/cave system could be anywhere in the world. You would be unlikely to play subway and above ground in one game! So there will be a little disconnect between subway and desert.

That should be fine.

Otherwise Russian like figures in a desert, no problem there either... Like you said they are everywhere, or perhaps the climate changed drastically. ;)

Cheers
Matt.
