I'm getting ready for a colonial African game next weekend, so have finished some European settlers:

I just got too ask am I wrong or is your you "avatar" a picture of a British officer? He looks alot like a young Kaiser Wilhelm....? ;)

Checked out your website, nice stuff! do you go to Kublicon? a few of us are thinking of making the trip this year from So Cal.

That is he, King of Prussia, Emperor of Germany and Centre Forward (and lead singer) for the Kaizer Chiefs, but you are also correct in that he was a British officer, as well as being Kaiser. A field marshall and colonel of some regiment of dragoons or other. Possibly an admiral too, wouldn't surprise me.  :)

Yep, that is the Kaiser.  I was looking for an old photo of someone with very impressive facial hair and that moustache sold me (and much of my dad's family were immigrants from Prussia, so I thought it was a nice fit).

I usually don't make it to cons these days;  I have young kids at home and it's hard on my wife if I disapear for a whole weekend. Plus, with budget limitations, I'd rather spend my cash on lead.

Back with some more figures.  These are porters from from Old Glory's Darkest Africa line, and I have to say the quality of these figures is terrible:

With quite a bit of work put into them, I think they will look acceptable on the table, but never great.

Anyway, if you want the details on my complaints, feel free to visit the blog:

The painting looks good, but I can see why you're not as happy as you could be.

Thanks! I have a fair amount of Old Glory figures and they can be hit or miss.  I think these figures definitely fit in the "miss" category. The sculpts might have been acceptable in the 70's/early 80's, but not with the quality of figures available today.

Oh, my giddy aunt!

There is some wonderful stuff in this thread, with those Masai being the cherry on the cake.

Great thread and project. A lot of well chosen and very nicely painted figures. What a lovely collection you're building there  :)
