The last stand of the Sheriff, a Shoot and Skeedaddle AAR
« on: 17 November 2013, 06:31:41 PM »
All,
I set up a small solo scenario based on the climactic gunfight in "High Noon".  The actual scenario came from the Board Game "Cowboys - Way of the Gun".  The Sheriff - US Marshall card with a pair of six guns.  The bad guys were the leader, a Bad Man, also with a pair of six guns, two Cowboys each with a single six gun, and one Cowboy with a lever action repeating rifle.  The Sheriff set up hiding, just past the corner of a building, the Gang walked boldly down Main Street gunning for him.
To even the game up just a bit, I followed Hollywood.  The Sheriff acted first, before any activation cards were drawn.  Firing both revolvers, he dropped one of the bad guys.  The game turned out to be a good day for Law and Order, though wounded, the Sheriff managed to kill all four bad guys,  and fell back into the waiting arms of Grace Kelly.
On a second go, the Sheriff killed the gang leader and one other gunman, but went down dead.

                                                              Nick

I should add, both games were quick, maybe 30 minutes including set up.

Very cool...and colour me surprised that one Sheriff outlived four baddies.  I'd have bet money he'd have not!  As Leggionaire did with his game you can always "add" traits to your characters if you're trying to fit a certain Hollywood feel.  I think he let his primary movie character ignore the first wound suffered etc.

After being asked a couple of times at this convention about "expansions" I'm convinced eventually I'll have to do some.  Perhaps a small add-on of a dozen movie-based characters is in order!  (don't worry, if this happens I'll be consulting you guys!)

Yes, some character cards based on movie and tv characters would be great.

"Sounds like a great quick scenario "

It was indeed.  Of course I did have to cheat just a bit, by giving the Sheriff a free first go.  Even then, he won one game and lost another. I could have stretched the game out more by having him move around the town and have the bad guys chase him, but this time, chose not to.
