Anyone done Revolution (TV Show) game?
« on: 18 November 2013, 07:22:16 PM »
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Revolution_(TV_series)

Basically, the world has no electricity (even batteries don't work). The US has split up in to 6 nations. Weapons are available, but anything requiring electricity is useless. Bullets are valuable and rare and powder muskets seem more in use than more modern ballistics. In some regions, they are confiscated by the ruling group

There are steam engine vehicles (conversions of existing vehicles most often)

Close combat weapons are also in large supply as the general population is allowed to have them.

Not only are there the governing bodies militia, but also brigands and thugs.

I think it has the potential to be an interesting scenario for miniature gaming.
Looking for a set of rules that adaptable for different genres.

Looking at it, you could have Wild West, meets Civil War, meets Modern Military.

Also, for those that haven't seen it I will put spoilers here

Highlight below for spoiler
You can also have access to the lockets that allowed for power and access to more advanced weapons. Might be something more for a long time campaign

HUGE spoiler  lol lol
I liked the premise of the show but found it was only so-so.
now as a possible post-apocalyspe type of game it has its merits.

I believe I watched the first 2 episodes and decided it wasn't my cup of tea.

The thing I liked about it was that it wasn't a huge Cataclysmic event that killed thousands of people and the survivors crawl from the rubble, it was more of a sudden stop of a relied upon resource and the decent of humanity and an erosion of society.

I really liked the concept of the show, but the characters left me a little cold. At least the first few episodes did.
"Peace" is that brief, glorious moment in history when everybody stands around reloading.

The first season was really wonky but the second one (which is rairing right now) got a 100% better. Lots of god ideas for gaming there as well (tribal post apocalyptic scavengers vs the us army in modern gear just as an example).
There stands jackson like a stonewall
