Mener une vie tranquille is correct  :D

Personnaly, when I'm not painting minis (or scenery), I paint slotcars (and slot car scenery), or I do retrogaming and retrocomputing  lol

Tonight I came back on my talibans painting, applying first coat of skin on their faces. I've got a lot of them remaining, more than I thought :o Masspainting, here we go again  lol

Here's the first updates.

The taliban group remaining, with just basic color applied, and first skin coat :

A lot of work remaining !  Painting talibans is more difficult thant I expected, especially because if you want to be a bit accurate, you have to make their cloths in one color only (except scars or hats). At least on the reference photos I found.

So you have to pay special attention to details (skin, weapons, accessories) to give the figures a decent aspect.

Here's the first significant update. I finished the skin on all the remaining minis.

Some details :

Caesar figure (the bulky weapon is due to the fact I heavy coated it with PVA glue for sturdiness. I'll paint the weapon details). I'm happy with the conversions I made.

Sandsmodels leader :

Sandsmodels gunner :

Group pic (mostly Sandsmodels and caesar) :

Same technic as usual :

block paint base skin color, keeping the hollows black (basically, only painting the toes, fingers, lips, cheeks and nose)
wash shade
highlight with base skin color

Tommorow I'll work on the clothes. I hope to finish these minis until next week.

Hi,

I completed block painting all the weapons, the hair, the webbings and accessories, and the shoes.

Remaining is the shading (some washes on the everything except skin wich is completed), and finally, last highlights (mostly just the basic colors used) on clothes, webbings and accessories.

Here's some WIP photos :

the "bakelite mag group" :

The main group (with classic metal mags or drum mags) :

The metal RPGs :

THe plastic RPG + plastic mortars :

There is 43 miniatures. I'll continue tommorow night.

Thanks for your comments !

The shading on clothes is completed, and drying now. Tommorow I'll do the weapons shading, and sunday, I'll do highlights. I should need a couple more days to complete the minis (base and varnish).

Once this batch will be completed, I'll work on french special forces and vehicles. A lot more interesting  !   :D (painting insurgents was nice at the beginning, but after one hundred minis, not so much...)

Overall I'm happy with the speed/result balance on these.  The shading on the sky blue talibans is pretty nice. It doesn't look like smurfs anymore.

The citadel wash is really interesting to blend base colors (on these minis, a black undercoat, a dark wetbrush color, and a basic main color almost drybrush) :

Those are coming along very nicely indeed. Great work on the scarves; really brings the figures to life.

Here's the final but ugly pics, sorry  lol

I did them quick this afternoon, and doing things quick is the best way to do it wrong  ::)

Anyway, here's the pics. After all, you already saw dozens of talibans, I just added 43 ones with this new batch.

The good thing with small scale is that you can store a complete 100men army in 2 tackles boxes. It's funny to think that these 2 pics are the most accurate concerning minis' real colors, by the way  lol

Next stage will be the technicals painting. I never really painted vehicles, so I'll have to learn in the same time. I will also take better pics next week (for example, the completed heavy weapon talibans crews).

thanks !

The 4 technicals are undercoated in black (I'll use some 10/15mm painting technics, as usual). First mistake, the PVA glue coat I brushed on the camo meshs is far too tick, now the undercoat is there, I realize that the mesh is almost invisible, now it's just a normal tarpaulin  lol

I'll post pics tommorow.

Painting on the technicals has began !

The red one's body is almost completed, even if it's not very obvious with the bad picture. Taking pics of red color is an impossible task for me, especially at night  lol

The red vehicle should be completed tommorow, and the 4 vehicles set before the end of the week end.
