Dragon for Dux Brit/Saga
« on: 01 December 2013, 10:46:20 AM »
I think it fits here better than in the medieval section o_o lol

Although Dux Brit and Saga are strictly historic, they are from the era of, well, of Sagas! So here's a dragon to go with my witches and wizards.

He's an old Grenadier blue dragon, from the days when these were about five quid a throw. I bought four or five of them, and I thought this was the nicest/best of them. Some were a bit flat, I thought, but the blue was a realy nice sculpt.

Well, he's not blue any more.

These's some more pictures and old guff here, as usual:

and some more pictures to supplement this one:

Merry meet again!

Very nice :)

That is one of the Julie Guthrie dragons? I had some of them, so many good ones, my favorites were the White & the Green.  I never had the blue one, but it looks great, wish I'd picked that one up too  ;)

Yes, they are the ones. I had/have the blue, the black (nice but a bit flat), the red (lost now :'() and the copper (really quirky with the little dwarf rider). They were smashing sculpts for the money.

Not Julie Guthrie, I think. Her blue dragon was an Allosaur with wings, right down to the little hornlets in front of the eyes. This one looks like... series 3, Dragon of the Month?

Not that it detracts from the model or it's paintjob! It's a great dragon and you've done it proud. Great, deep red!

Thanks very much! Well spotted - this is the series 3 Blue Dragon. I had just assumed this was a Guthrie sculpt, and I'm pleased to be corrected. I always thought they were great pieces, and at the time they were uber-cheap for the the quality and the weight of metal you got!
