Skirmish trays for SAGA/Dux Brit
« on: February 15, 2013, 01:06:11 AM »
Hi folks,

I am looking to expand my historical skirmish forces, and will likely need some more skirmish trays.  I have some of the warbases trays - http://www.warbases.co.uk/?view=true#/dux-brittaniarum/4566290181 which, while nice, have hideous shipping fees for international orders.  Does anyone know of any suitable alternatives for 8-man 25mm round skirmish trays?

Fenris does 20mm trays, so it would be a custom order to do 25mm trays.

4Ground has 25mm trays in square formation rather than skirmish: http://www.4ground.co.uk/Default.aspx?page=268&pid=242  Their prices are real nice, and shipping is very reasonable, so I may just go with their trays.  But it would be nice to have some decent trays in skirmish formation.

Any suggestions are appreciated!

I have made several purchases from Warbases and have only found their shipping (to Oz) expensive if my actual order has been small.
Cheers,

10 of their 8-man trays would cost me $24 (£15.50) plus $14.40 (£9.29) in shipping charges.  That's 60% of the order value in shipping charges.

If I were to order 50 of them (out of curiosity sake to make a big order...) it would cost $120 plus $60 in shipping according to their cart - 50% of order value for shipping.  Somewhat excessive, I would think...

That is the same for any order to the rest of the world.

EDIT:

To compare, when ordering from 4Ground, it starts out with a somewhat pricey flat rate of  10GBP for shipping, but once your order hits 50GBP it drops to 5.5 GBP.

So if I were to order 50 of their 8-man trays (actually only 17 of their base packs, as each one comes with 3 movement trays) it would cost 25.5GBP (~$40) plus 10GBP shipping ($15.50), which is about 40% of the order value for shipping at that rate.  However, with such value for their product, I would likely order another 25GBP of product to get the discounted shipping.

Too bad their 8-man trays aren't skirmish trays... perhaps I will send them an email about custom orders.  It would probably still work out cheaper, and I bet they would sell really well for the price point if they made them widely available.

Wasn't someone doing something with clear plastic rings and lasers? I recall Capt. Blood's WOTR types on them...

The litko skirmish trays look nice, but there is no bulk set for the 8-man tray, meaning it would cost $7 apiece before shipping  :(

Made the mistake of clicking on Cap'n Blood's link.

All movement trays should look like this.  There should be a law.

Correspondence with James initiated.

My Dux Westerosum project just got more involved.  But it's all about making it look good.

I'm loving the inspiration that comes from this forum.
