I can't get to any torrent sites any-more. Blocked in the UK

Getting around that is fairly easy. Start with www.hidemyass.com that'll let you get to the sites and then the site itself will often have a proxy link so you can grab something.

With the way my employer monitors traffic, and work is the only place I have sufficient band to think about such things, will just have to cross fingers that it WILL make it to Netflix.

Thunder, old chap, nice to be in company again, even if in misery.  :'( lol ;)

That's the joy of a proxy site, that site appears on your list but nothing you look at through it does. You might want to find one with a less obvious name though  :D

Generally I wouldn't recommend torrent sharing through work anyway though.

I work at a university's NOC (and a less savvy network guy than moi is difficult to imagine: 'that dingus is red again; whom do I call?'), so the magnifying glass is pretty big.  lol

Not per se, but the whole file sharing thing and weird IP laws make it a tangled mess. 'It's been misused, so we deny it to everyone.'  ::)

There is nothing illegal about torrent sharing. The issue is what kind of files people are sharing. As to whether sharing those files is illegal... it depends. As Beast says it's a bit of a mess and the heavy hand of the movie and music industry is doing it's best to stamp it out regardless of whether it's legal sharing or not.

I picked this up off the net from dubious avenues  ;)

I really enjoyed this film. It interestingly blends the history of WWI into the War of the Worlds.
It uses real historical footage doctored to include tripods , heat ray etc.
If you are familiar with the history of World War One you will identify some history points but done with a Martian twist.

It is done in an historical documentary style and it works really well.

My favourite bit has got to be when captured Martian technology is put onto WWI tanks to make "land ships" and they duke it out with the tripods.

I do have a couple of criticisms, they do overuse a lot of the same footage and some of the "strategies" of both humans and Martians seem highly dubious from a military standpoint but then again some of the military thinking in WWI was highly dubious with 20/20 hindsight.

I checked the credits and I can see no mention of Tim Hines or his production company.

Cheers
Fuzzy
Crikey, sir. I'm looking forward to today. Up diddly up, down diddly
down, whoops, poop, twiddly dee - decent scrap with the fiendish Red
Baron - bit of a jolly old crash landing behind enemy lines - capture,
torture, escape, and then back home in time for tea and medals.

I gather no mention of the Thunderchild.

I thought the importance of the navy would continue to be underscored.  ;)

Well I finally got around to watching this last night and was pleasantly surprised.

They did it in the standard History/Discovery style, right down to the overuse of clips, which although it can be annoying at times at least gave it the same feeling as a 'real' documentary.

My favourite parts were the elderly actors playing survivors of the conflict. They were quite splendid!

As you can imagine this has set the little grey clockwork cogs whirring, so keep your eyes on the skies   :D

I saw this too and thought it was excellent.

As has been said already the actors playing the veterans etc. were uniformly convincing and gave moving performances.

Problem is it has got me looking at more plans for models I'll get half way through and then leave. I have a picture in my mind of a tripod straddling a trench with soldiers from various armies in the trench firing up at it - a WW1 version of "55 Days at Peking" really.

I think I need help . . . . . or at least someone to cut my credit card in half.  ;)

There is a game currently in development by a known company that is now going to look like such a rip off of this show  lol
