Future Tank concept - PL-01
« on: December 13, 2013, 03:35:09 PM »
So...sometimes TMP is still useful. I caught this topic there.

Finally a tank that looks "futuristic" but not by much.

My question is: any miniature company planning on doing something similar to this tank?

I'll gladly accept a 28mm version of this, or even a 15mm  :-*

Easier to do in 3 mm (there is a Polish company making 3 mm,) or 6 mm.   ;)

It does include some interesting design concepts.

Daaang. Nice and reasonable concept (if a bit tall considering the unmanned turret, IMHO), and it looks positively mischievous.

I guess the only way to defeat it is to... reverse pole-arity.

Radar absorptive? I thought they had just hit it with black primer to get it on the table as 'painted'....

That's pretty cool!  Unfortunately most 28mm companies can't seen to drag themselves away from boiler plate designs.....

Yep, this came out maybe a year or two ago - pretty interesting concept.

For some other excellent quasi-future models, check out the vehicles from ARMA III the PC game - set in 2035 a lot of its vehicles draw on current or theorized vehicles...some nice designs.

Lots of quality stuff, plenty of vehicles to check out.

@Elbows - thanks for those pictures, didn't knew them.

I second that! I have some high hopes for the upcoming Antenociti's vehicles, for 2014, but I would really like to see some variety.

I think the tough part for me is getting a proper futuristic vehicle which looks realistic.  For instance when that PL-01 concept came out, it got a lot of flak from current tank drivers and crewmen "What a pain in the ass to fix a road wheel...", "How will you access _____!?" etc.  So even concepts tend to go a bit astray from reality.  It's cool to see someone land a proper design which looks both futuristic and production-capable/useful.

Scurv - when my buddies and I play ARMA III we reserve a good 15% of the time to sit around and go "man...how cool does that look!?" :D
