survivor vehicle!
« on: January 07, 2014, 11:02:00 AM »
Hi,

in the holidays I was finally able to put the finishing touches to the vehicle. It was a long walk for this small VW, but it was ideal item for experiments with new techniques.

The first try. I didn't liked the rake blade, ... too big!

...this was more fitting!

...masking of the value parts...

... and a big load of Rust ...

... and after untold painting errors/steps ...

Now Archie can career into the Z-Apocalypse with his trusty old VW-Bulli!

Good Hunting

How the hell did you do that?
Beautiful! :o

Love it. The rust against the colour is a nice touch.

That is awesome...I have that same vehicle but never thought to do anything like that to it. Thanks for sharing.

Spectacular looking vehicle with an outstanding paint job too.

I do like the technique of painting the rust effect first and than the 'proper' paint scheme on top of that, I used it on various Loco's and road vehicles myself. A BIG thumbs up from me...  :)

Huh. Well that's me quitting modelling forever. Ah, wait I'm supposed to be inspired by this and want to do better in the hopes of somehow achieving that right? Oh well.

Great work. That's a realistic looking wear effect you have on that miniature, and just a neat model in general. Shiny, shiny hubcaps though (get some dust and blood on their man!).  ;)
