« on: January 08, 2014, 07:56:41 AM »
The title says it all...does anyone have any info on guard Uhlan regiments 1-3 officer uniforms.  Early and late war?

Thanks

Steve

Watcha Steve. What you need is a gander at "German Cavalry Uniforms of WW1, Volume 2" Bruce BAssett-Powell (part of the Uniformology series). 1st and 3rd Guard Lancers are illustrated within. Don't have a copy myself. At work. Not near me books. This is all I can give at present.  ;)

Some basic info: Early war... Standard M1910 issue "uhlanka" jackets (plastron piping of regimental colour) with "litzen" on collar (again backed in regimental colour). Cuffs piped in regimental colour and with white litzen on the single button on the pointed cuff.
1915+.... Field grey tunics with same decoration as above.
It is just a question of the colour of the regimental piping of these three regiments.
Prussian Cockades.

Scroll down this discussion to find the image of uhlanka with litzen from 19th Uhlans (the only other Uhlan regiment to wear them besides the Guards): http://www.planetfigure.com/threads/prussian-infantry-officer-ww1.19986/

Garde Ulanen Regt. Nr. 3.... regimental distinction appears to be YELLOW. Officer's litzen probably silver.

Image of an NCO's uniform from Garde Uhlan Regt (number unknown) in 1915 Field Grey with Red as the regimental distinction. . Officer's similar... better cut.... better quality cloth.... different shoulder boards, litzen in gold not yellow: http://www.germanmilitaria.com/imperial/photos/G016269.html

Found coloured illustration of Officer from Garde Ulanen Regt Nr 1 wearing M1915 feldbluse... no piping or decoration anywhere but also wearing Officers visored cap with red band on crown (regimental distinction) and red piping around the edge of the top of the cap. Photos from link above may also be from Garde Ulanen Regt Nr 1.

This is fun........

Check kaisersbunker.com

It mostly shows dunkelblau but there are also some feltgrau uniforms. Also most uniform details and regimental facings colours stayed the same.
