Cimmerians vs Undeads
« on: 08 January 2014, 11:53:57 AM »
Hello !
Me and my son Sandro ( Naran Team Turin) spent the day of the Epiphany ( January 6, 2014 ) playing a good battle of Naran Fantasy Wars: CIMMERIANS against an Horde of UNDEADS.
Sandro played its ugly but beautiful Undeads. I played the Cimmerians
Except for a few Undead, of different firms (eg the Reaper’s Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse), all the miniatures are Mirliton (former Grenadier).
The Cimmerians are Barbarians, in our world of Naran , characterized by the fact that they use as battle mounts smilidons ( saber-toothed tigers ) . The Grenadier set had only the Hero on  tiger. In the far year 2000, our friend Ivan Curina, when he had made his own version of the armies of Fantasy Warriors, he had the idea of making the army of the Cimmerians, whose cavalry was mounted on the Smilodon, then we have also included it in our Naran version . Then when in 2004,  Fantasy Warriors with the Grenadier’s molds was acquired by Mirliton, we have suggested to Mr. Grazzini to expand the range of the Barbarian Warriors on  Smilodon , also using other Barbarian Knights he had, so you can make even the Units and no more than one Individual. So the Mirliton’s catalog was expanded with the Cimmerians .
"Our" Cimmerians are not those of the Mirliton, because when we made them they were not sold. They are the result of the changes made by us with the busts of some Barbarians (Infantry) glued on the bottom of the body of the Grenadier’s Hero. We then also made the change to the chariot of the Barbarians, replacing horses with smilodons .
I have now updated the page Pictures of Naran Fantasy Wars section of our website with pictures of the battle, which you can see here :

For the record: the game ended in a draw. Also this time I have been nuts favorable, especially those of Saving Throws, while Sandro, as usual, was less fortunate.

Happy 2014 Everyone!
Sergio

Marvelous details and tidbits on your figures.

Exceptional minis, love my Mirlitons.

Always great to get together for a bit of the old bash-about with our favorite armies.

Thanks for the great pictures.
