The Mosque at Al Jazirya
« on: 09 January 2014, 04:24:53 PM »
The fifth game in our Chain of Command campaign was a fast and fun affair and a reverse of fortunes for the thus far all-conquering British.  You can read about it here:  http://toofatlardies.co.uk/blog/?p=2395

Some more Perry toys in the post yesterday, so at the moment I am frantically painting to get ready for the next game on Monday or Tuesday.

Really enjoying watching this campaign unfold and becoming increasingly tempted by your rules (although I still have a considerable amount of painting to do). Have you made any progress with the French Resistance stuff?

Great stuff, thanks for setting all this up, photos, commentary, everything, it must be a deal of work (as well as good fun).

I am more and more tempted to get into CofC, it really sounds like something I would enjoy. However, I have absolutely no experience of WW2, unless you count my collection of Airfix models I built when I was about 15 (a good 30 years ago). It's hard to pick a period, I really like early war stuff, it seems almost archaic, but could be hard to get hold of. My mate is collecting some figures for VBCW, I guess the CofC rules could be adapted for that? And obviously you are playing desert war, which appeals too, so I guess that's an option too.

Which lists are included in the book, and are there others available to download?

The CoC rules have the late war lists, but on the Too Fat Lardies website there are early war lists for the Germans, Poles, French, Belgians, Italians and British Expeditionary forces. I know that people are also using them for the VBCW and Spanish Civil War and there are lists for the Spanish Civil War there too.

Total numbers of figures needed to get started aren't too big as it is a platoon plus some support for each side which will be between 35-45 infantry and maybe a couple of vehicles and heavy weapons like MG or AT guns. With WWII stuff there is a huge range of things available in 15mm, 20mm and 28mm, personally I prefer 20mm due to using the cheap soft plastic figures from Revell, Italeri, etc but due to Flames of War lots of things are available in 15mm and 28mm also has plastic figures which can reduce the cost (though they will require assembly).

Tell me about it. Which era, which theatre, which scale, which rule set?  o_o
