So, I am looking for some elite rat warriors along with a rat captain for Mice and Mystics.

Mice and Mystics is a great cooperative miniature board game. The heroes are mice, the villains are insects and rats. The game comes with six rats, all the same sculpt, all armed with minimal armour and a sword. However the game calls for not only rat warriors, but elite rat warriors with armour, and a rat captain.

I found some excellent figs at Scibor that would play the role perfectly, but I am having a hard time justifying $12 per miniature. I need seven, and $84 for seven miniatures is just too much! Any suggestions? I know that GW has a lot of rat warriors, but hey, any others? These are on the largish side as well.

Thanks
n.

Take a look at the classic ex Grenadier rats (now sold by Mirliton):

Well, the GW Island of Blood starter set figures are very nice and can be had for cheap(ish) on ebay.

In metal, there is the Black Tree Designs Vermen range and as mentioned, the grenadier ones produced by mirliton.

Ral Partha Europe also has some and I can only assume Reaper does too.

You may want to check out this thread on BGG for some size comparison pictures:

http://boardgamegeek.com/thread/879819/photo-comparison-with-reaper-mouslings-and-gw-skav

The thread compares the M&M figures to the Reaper Mouslings and Warhammer Skaven. The regular Skaven are fairly small and might not be the best fit for an elite rat. The Stormvermin are better though still a little smaller than the M&M rats.

The recent Reaper Bones Kickstarter (#2) had some of the Mouslings as options along with some new rat figures, though its hard to say how the new rats will compare to the M&M figures. Still, those might be another option, if you can wait on them. If you scroll through the large picture below, you'll see what was planned:

The DnD / Pathfinder miniature lines probably have some wererats as well, and the old Star Wars line had a rodent-like Vornskr, so those might be worth a look. I haven't seen any size comparisons for any of these though, and given past experience with these miniatures, I think they might be too small for your purposes.

Black Scorpion does some nice nefarious looking rats for their Fantasy Football line.  They're Skaven but with significantly less GW-ness to them.  They'd need some weapons and shields, but they're not bad looking.

Obviously the one with football would be a might useless.  lol

(I really like some of the Black Scorpion fantasy football sculpts, particularly their elves...think they need some re-purposing!)

Thanks guys, some great options there.

I'll post some pics when I pick something up... If I ever finish the base set figures that is! ;)

Thanks again,

Flytrap Factory and Zombiesmith have joined forces to produce a range of warring rodents called Netherworld
I used to be with it, but then they changed what it was. Now what I'm with isn't it anymore and what is it seems weird and scary.
