This is the same reason X-Wing was so appealing.  FUn and easy game, and minimal start effort.

Probably true but having a setting most people were "aware of" might have helped too.

Gracias,

Well, Master and Commander back to Gregory Peck as Hornblower mean there's "awareness", but my son-in-law will play Texas Hold 'Em, Zombiecide, and X Wing. 'The force is strong' with that franchise. ;->=

I watched it played, and have to say that Nappy ships aren't high on my love list, but I'm seriously considering picking up some ships (which run $18 - $22 from what I see), and again, not out of the ballpark of the SW/ST 'Wings of War'. Be using a friend's starting set, though.

He's gotten play from Leviathans owned by a few others of us.

Beast,

If you're into X-Wing, Sails of Glory, etc. I'd recommend checking out Miniature Market - one of the most affordable sites for stuff like this.

^Ships are $12-15 a pop there.  Heck the game is only $62 (instead of $90). X-wing ships are about $10.  Lots of great deals.  Between MM and The Warstore, I can normally find stuff for a very reasonable deal.

Well, the whole 'preaching to the choir', as I've been there oft enough, is strongly mitigated by my storekeep mentality.  :D

As part owner, I get a discount that's favorable to prices there, unless something's in heavy  clearance or current 'Moving Sale'. Supporting the store is more than mercantile enlightened self-interest. It keeps a heck of a friendly place to meet new folk and game with a roof overhead.

Note, even I get discount, not free. The herd-o-cats that are the owners agreed, from the start, the store should have a profit from our purchases as well.

I wish I had a good store to support.  There is one large store here which charges criminal prices...so they'll get none of my business (read: they charge more than MSRP).  I do like having a local shop to support, but heck I haven't lived near one for 10 years.  :(
