The real VSF ...?
« on: June 11, 2008, 09:50:39 AM »
You can see this at the Athens War Museum:

Some more technical infos on the original site:

http://www.mlahanas.de/Greece/History/WorldWarI_Images0001.html

I searched the net already for more infos about that very nice device, but couldn't find anything. I'm very suspicious about the description "KRUPP SCHUMANN Germany Model 1894", as I never heard about a Krupp Schumann factory or consortium.

So, is that a fake?  ???

All infos from the specialists here are very welcome (as this great design will be on my modeling list very soon  ;D).

Unknown as to real or fake but it's great none the less. I may have to make 1 or 2 myself.

Cheers

Ah, that was fast, argsilverson! Thank you very much!

It's a Fahrpanzer (which I never heard of before ...), and all info can be found here:

Ah Admiral Benbow!
I wish I had one or two.
IFor VSF I would prefer it not horse drawn but pedal driven, like bicycle or so.

by the way:

These two were captured by the Greeks in the 2nd balkan war (1913). they were used by the Bulgarian forces who abndoned them during the defeat.
I do not think that they were much of use.

Admiral, I can't wait to see them in the photos, I donot know whether it is easy to reach skull island.

An addition:

Just now I received my first batch of my painted Greeks (tiger miniatures balkan wars Greeks). They will go very well with these guns!!!

No time to learn how to post photos. I am leaving with my daughter to London early in the morning, perhaps next week!

It's a German "Fahrpanzer"; there is one in the Brussels War Museum too.  I have had two pics on my site for years, as well as plans to make a few 28mm ones...:

It reminds me of a beautiful spherical Prussian steam tank that was on the boards quite a while ago. I found the post but the pictures are no longer linked.
