On the basis of the comments here I Just bought the foundry set for my VBCW project....

Good choice. Unlike these awful efforts the Foundry ones, whilst not perfect at least look like the actors/characters they are intended to (not) be.

Paul Hicks did them?

Hmm, that surprised me. It must be the first stuff he's sculpted I haven't gone head-over-heels for. Never mind, plenty more of his top work still out there.
'Sir John ejaculated explosively, sitting up in his chair.' ... 'The Black Gang'.

Likewise. Most surprised.

Paul is normally blinking brilliant at capturing a likeness, even in such a tiny scale - the characters in his 'Zulu' set for Empress are spot on. And his Sid James is legendary  ;)

Some of these really don't look like his style at all. Curious.

Maybe they're better in the flesh...

I would like to see them in bare metal, or white/black primed, so much can be effected by the painters technique, which although very nice here may be obscuring the sculpt.

As for the uniform thoughts, the TV and films show a variety of uniform parts and changes, they may have some basis in fat but also as much basis in what the BBC had access to.  I remember seeing Sgt Wilson with black leather belt, and colours between brown to green.  Also his cuffs were mainly turned up...

Me too, when Dave said they were Paul's, I was adamant he was mistaken. Has Gary mentioned they may look better in bare metal, unless the features are exaggerated they can sometimes be lost under the paint.

I was a bit surprised by how little enthusiasm I have for these.

The pictures of Pike and Wilson are on the Warlord site now too.

I am glad that these are not great as I would have felt like replacing my Foundry figures if they were better.

I'd like the civilian figures though just to complete the collection.

I think that is worth taking into consideration. I don't know why, but Warlord don't seem always to get the best out of their miniatures in photographs for some reason. I like to see painted miniatures, but I also wish that manufacturers would also always include pictures of the unpainted miniature too. After all, I am not buying the painted miniature...

Not sure that the civilians would add a lot, I have loads of the Musketeer, etc. ones already.  I am hoping that they do the Home Guard Funny weaponry.

I think Wilson, Walker, Frazer and the vicar are really good. The others are not too bad.  THE CID.
